  • designed my own skin (beta version) whacha think?

    Hey guys...

I'm designing my own in car software, just as a bunch of you guys here are doing... Though i'm not yet going to the extent of adding maps/gps stuff to it... mainly sticking to mp3, FM, mov files, and possibly dvd's...

this is my current skin i will be using... i just thought i would post it just to post it... lemme know if you guys like it, hate it, would change something, etc...

it's still in the beta phase, and i still have to add more buttons to the interface (playlist viewer, eq viewer, full screen mode, etc...)

Just curious if you guys like the design.....

Looks awesome. Is your SW built on top of winamp or winmedia player?

Nice job .. very clean looking .. I am curious to see how it handles music selection.

I dont know... my feeling is there is too many different element "styles" used so the overall look is somehow inconsistent. Less means more sometimes... anyway, its only my personal opinion so you do not have to care about it. The only one here who has to like it is you.

          Hey

I'm looking for the simple solution... so it will be using the windows media player control...

It does alot, and it has a nice visualization system... I'll simply place the control in the middle.

To answer the message above, to hande the file selection, the windows mediaplayer control will hide itself and the file selector will become visible.
You will then choose the song you would like to play next. If not, the next song in the list will be chosen. I will also work on a way to have your own possible playlist to play.. But for now, I just want to get it all up and running...

The visual layout is still in the works... but that's the general idea... coolest part, the buttons below are actually reflecting my car's interior (took pic from where the panel will be placed) and placed the image in the button. I'm hopeing it will turn out very nice in the car

I'm debating about wether or not to redesign the top Power and Mode buttons... so they look more like the bottom buttons...

The mode button will cycle through the movie/fm or mp3 mode...
all modes will use the middle screen area. For each mode you will be able to press the full screen button to make the VIS mode full screen. Actually the FM mode will probably not be full screen, since it needs to show the channel... the top right FM/MOV/MP3 info area will contain the track time, volume level.

I need to find place to put the current time, and a spot for the scroll bar to move through the song (location slider)

I'm looking to keep it simple and as realistic as i can make it look... Also the cool looking metal background matches my current dash aluminum look hehe

Oh side note, but i need to redo the volume up and down and mute it doesn't feel right, now that i look at it... feels like i can do better...

Ok i think I see what you mean .. Basicly you will have one really large list of music selections that you will scroll through till you find the one you like. Is this Correct?

Also I was wondering if you had any plans to make it possible to select a song by artist/album. and If you would have a place for the Album cover graphic while the song was playing.

              thanks

yeah, basically you will setup the app to read mp3's in a particular directory.
What i'm hazy on at the moment, is how i will group them by artist, album, etc...

But I would like to group the songs by artist/album if possible.
For displaying the album art, that indeed would be a great idea...
(thoughts are flying through my head as we speak... lol ) Maybe
design a new window where you can see the album, and the songs for that album...

one thing though, i want this to look simple clean and as professional as possible.
I want it to replace my existing stereo with my non functional cd player.
so I'd like something just as nice and stereo like... hehe

But yeah, keep the ideas coming ;-) hehe

The best way in my oppinion that I have seen the whole album sort / artist sort is along the lines of what qunicy did for the live player software that he did. that could give you some ideas to run with .. the other thing I have seen that handles this good as well is the software called Virtual music jukebox or VMJ for short.

Make your background layer in another file that is larger than your layout. Then you can drag the layer into the layout file. That way the top and bottom of the brushed metal will be blurred too.

Actually true, didn't think of that.... it's all about the little details.

                      Thanks

you seem to be too lazy.

if it were me I would scrap the whole idea and just wait for someone to make it for you then use your skin
