  • Best way to make Divx videos?

I've been converting to Divx for a few years now and was just curious as to what method and or programs you guys use to get the best quality Divx movies? I've used Dr. Divx for most of mine but was wondering if there is anything better? Has anyone tried SimpleDivx?

"#1 DVD Ripper" look into that. Yeah. its a kinda weird name for a program.

Just select the framerate of the DVD, check the VOB files u want to copy (arranged in a tree structure), choose the audio track, select your codec (DiVX) go to sleep, and wake up with a DiVX file

You must have DiVX codec PRO > 5.0 to encode DiVX files, regardless of what software you choose.

I've been using CladDVD .net to rip it from the DVD then Dr. Divx to convert to divx. Super DVD Ripper or TMPGEnc to make VCD's. VirtualDub to combine or split Divx. I've tried a bunch of them but found that Dr. Divx to be the easiest way to go.

Since we're on this topic, I've got the opposite question.

What's the best way anyone's found to move a bunch of assorted MPG and AVI files onto DVD format, with chapter support etc..?

ATM, I'm using TMPGenc to convert the files and DVD Author to actually write tyhem to dvd. I'd like to use one program to take all the different formats and bitrates etc. and burn them in one step.

                  Regards,

                  Kris

Seconded with modification. Replace smartripper with dvddecriptor.

BTW, AutoGK is a front end for the dvd2avi+avisynth+virtualdubmod combo mentioned above that analyzes the DVD and handles all the configuration for you. I'm all about the FREE single click solutions.

What ddogg_777 said. But I use XviD. And add Nandub for ABR MP3's from LAME 3.96 & BeSweet. Sometimes I'll keep the AC3 (DVD's & HDTV), rest it all gets downsampled to stereo 128 kbit/sec ABR.
