  • Gapless playback in VB using playlists in WMP

Hi all. I'm back again... After a while of moving house, long days at work, and everything else that happens in life, I'm working on Cajun-4-Win again.

Cutting to the chase, we all know that playing MP3's through WMP is nice and easy. Gapless playback however is a bit of a holy-grail.

Now a while ago, we came to the conclusion that using WMP's builtin playlist features would get almost-gapless playback due to the way WMP's buffering works.

Anyhow, I've been looking at a way to do this, but not having much success - either I don't understand something, or I just don't get it

I still can't get this happening though :|

Anyone ever successfully done this or have any ideas?

Making playlists is easy, keeping up with where you are in them and making everything else work like expected is what is hard.

How did you create the playlist? Every time I try to add an item, I just get an error saying I have a type mismatch(!) for passing a string to it...

I've been trying to figure out how the hell you tell it what file you want, if it's not in a string format!

I'll dig up the test code.

Remember this was TEST code !

When I used WMP I found it faster and easier to make my own playlists. You might want to look into doing that. Just a suggestion.
