yeah, ive been waiting for something like this to make me get the pc version, totaly makes it worth having 2 units, hell i might even keep the pc version in the house to maximize the recording time, im only in my car 3-4 hours a day.

This is getting me thinking. I don't have a driving commute. I take the path train and walk. I'm really excited about Opie and Anthony coming to XM. It would be cool to record their show and listen to to it as an mp3 on my archos portable jukebox.

Has anyone here done the optical conversion yet? I'm wondering if it gets rid of the bus noise from the usb port?

Any opinions on what the compression of XM is equilvalent to in terms of MP3 kbs? I've read in the past claims that XM sounds better than Sirius and that Sirius sounds better than XM. Just wondering about what the final result would sound like when ripping the XM stream and then compressing it to MP3.

I mentioned this in another thread, so sorry for the repeat, but I have done the optical conversion and don't have a problem with noise anymore. The usb portion of the PCR is just for control, not audio, so any interference you were getting was from the analog line. Once you go digital, you won't go back

You can do this same thing with Total Recorder and other versions of XMPCR software. I bet this software will disappear soon since it is against the TOS to record XM

I didn't think Total Recorder would separate the stream into separate files and name them with the appropriate ID3 tags. Did you get this to work?
