  • Awesome idea! Need help w/ coding

Alright, I do not know how to do this, but I was thinking of writing a C/VB program that would watch for mouse movements on the touch screen and interpret them as a letter, like a PDA. Any ideas on how to code something like this?

Something like Graffiti on the palm?

Good idea, but you don't want to do that in vb, unless there's a dll or something (api) that can be used 8)

If it would be possible in PHP, i'd do it

You're not going to want to do that in any language !

But there are already apps out there that do this pattern mactching technique.

Assuming the recognition portion of the code is reasonably encapsulated, it shouldn't be too difficult to pull it out of one of those OSS projects and wrap it with Windows code (assuming that's what you want). Still, it wouldn't be a trivial undertaking.

I'm actually planning on doing something like this (except with a touchpad), I'll let you know when I have something if you like.

hey mushin! I was wanting to do this with my touchpad too. you inspired me with many possibilities by posting that link! much thanks! and let me know how this goes. I haven't really looked to see if there was software already made or anything, but i think there is. i just want about 10 gestures to do random functions, though.

                      InkEdit ActiveX

Windows XP Tablet edition has this feature built in, its from M$ therefore they made it an activex and can be used in .Net and Vb6

My tablet pc came bundled with a program called Symbol Commander. From a company called Sensiva.

If you just want some gestures to do stuff, maybe they have a "mouse" version of this... I thought you wanted recognition for writing letters....

Excellent. I guess I will try to do this with my VS.net although I am wondering how I will make the program work without having it actually open and max'd on the screen.
