  • Software that saves windows sound settings?

Hey guys a while back someone posted a link to some software that saves the sound settings in windows and can restore them. For example, it would save the 'sound playback' device and 'record from' device.
I've been looking for that thread but I just can't seem to find it. Anyone know the name of that software or maybe have a link to that thread?

The reason I ask is because I'm using a bluetooth headset as a mic and whenever I turn it on it always changes the 'sound playback' to bluetooth. But I only want bluetooth to be the 'record from' device.

I have searched through about 20 threads now. Can you remember anything else about the thread?

Frodo I know you're out there, and you seem to be a badass when it comes to this kind of stuff. What do you know about this?

                  Try this:
Make a .reg file, put this in it.
Change the "SB Live! Wave Device" to your soundcard name in the
                  control panel.

                  Code:
                  Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

                  [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Multimedia\Sound Mapper]
                  "Playback"="SB Live! Wave Device"
If this works we can go further.

Btw, that should say "Sound Mapper" for some reason it's not displaying
                    properly, at least for me.

hmm...if i somehow rigged up some code that would check that registry key for any changes, and change it back to SB Live device. would that do the trick?

I don't know, try the code first and see if it works.

I tried that registry addition from a .reg file and it worked! it successfully changed the value from bluetooth to SB Live! Wave Device.
I guess now I'll try to figure out a way to make a program out of that..
