  • BIG Splash!!!....screen

When my computer starts up, there is a flash of a blue screen and the hewlett packard logo immediately. Then the normal bootup then the windows splash screen, etc...

I would like to have a screen come up like this HP screen and stay up through the boot until the windows desktop is there. Any way to do this??

probably can't do anything with the HP logo, but you can replace the windows startup screen..

The image needs to be a bitmap in 256 colors and the it should be 320 x 400 pixels.. rename the file as logo.sys copy it to C:\ and reboot.. woop!
I cheat, I own an empeg.

the hp screen is controlled by your bios, and basically covers up technical info that your bios is displaying. you could probably find that same HP logo and make a splash screen out of it like nester said, so it wouldn't look too different.

Anyway, hes right, theres nothing you can do about that HP logo, except buy a new motherboard (which isnt a bad idea with an HP)

I'm still using my 5.25" 4GB harddrive from my HP in my current home pc. It is sad b/c the carputer has a better, bigger drive. Anyways, back on topic. You might be able to change the BIOS boot screen. But you would have to hack it yourself. I've never seen anybody change it, but I bet it is just a pic saved in a certain format.

Hmm....seems like a lot of trouble. What about an external device that displays an image over ntsc? Maybe hack a cheap digital camera with video out? Ideas??

Forget it... Itīs stored in the BIOS and not on the HD. You can only change it if you have a program able to write on the Flash BIOS. The manufacters have it but most donīt release them. The ABIT has released one so you can change your BIOS boot bitmap. Maybe thereīs a option on the BIOS to disable the boot-up screen... maybe.
