Do you have a hosting provider picked yet? Some of them have built in cheap domain registration, and it makes it easier to do all in one place. I use domainmonger.com myself. Good interface, no problems in the last few years.

My host provider is hostave.com. Cheap, good bandwidth, and $9 domain registration.

GoDaddy.com or Namecheap.com for domain registration.

HostPC.com or e-rice.net offer affordable hosting. HostPC uses the superior DirectAdmin control panel with Installatron auto-install scripts.

                              Second that on 123-reg.co.uk

                              Joker.com is good too.

I mainly use 123-reg, it gives frree mail forwarders and you can set you own DNS entries on it instead of having to run your own nameserver.
