  • Dual Screens - 1 for Display 1 for Controls

    Hey,

First time poster but a long time lurker...

Just finished PC install, and Im looking into the best software for the front end. Right now there is one screen (flush mounted in the dash), but we're looking at adding 3 more (passenger visor and the 2 headrests).

I was wondering if there were any Front Ends that support haveing the controls & GPS left on display 1 (touchscreen) and outputting the video/visualizations onto the other screens?

If there is not, are there any planning on support for this.

The main reason is that in my area the cops give out heavey fines (a couple hundred $ a fine) to people with movies & video that is displayed to the driver of the car.

    Thanks for the help,

    -Mikerosoftx

I realize that, but if the front End dosent support it then how would that work? The 2nd screen would either be a clone of the first (with video on both - not wanted) or everything would be on the first and the second would be blank.

For example, In Road Runner, when I click on DVD, rather than the main screen changing to the DVDVideo with controls, have the controls come up on the first screen but no video (or a thumbnail sized video - not big though), and the video overlay on the 2nd monitor full screen.

you could set up an external DVD application to launch on the other monitor (UltraMon does this very well). But, you would have to have a video card that supports two outputs and you would lose control of the mouse on the other screen (unless it was a touch screen)

        have to fabricate screen mount

have to start over, lilliput died, 1st laptop broke, have to sell the 2nd one. damn

Of course it will happen, but rather than releasing software that is full of bugs, Confused and Danceheaven want to make sure they are happy with it before letting other people use it.

They have chosen NOT to take the Microsoft approach to BETA testing (FULL RELEASE!!) and will actually release AIMEE when the bugs are resolved.
