  • MP3Car Google Maps Tracking

We have been doing a little experiment over the last month or so, and
here is a teaser. It's not completely done or live yet, but should be in
a day or so as soon as I can get Zip-Lock the updated client, and
    upload the latest web codes.

A writeup will follow the successful live tests.
For now, you can view the log portion on the right side.

    MP3Car Google Maps Tracking

Zip-Lock or I will post when he is going to drive around live.

Now have it automatically update every time you drive past an unsecured access point so that us cheap bastards with cheap cellphones can tell everyone where we are!
Awesome work though, I love it!
Old plans out the window because of an accident .

nice, great job frodo... I'm gonna have to look into this, I want to do something along the lines of lo-jack
i have a t-mobile pcmcia modem and i already pay for the service, i want to do something along the lines of whenever the car is on it uploads the location of the car to my webserver, then i can do what i want with it...possibly even shut the car down remotely (hrmmmm).... If only i wasnt such a lazy bastard...
I had a perfect quote to go here,
but hell only knows what I did with it....

I made a little tracker client for my VB class black in 2001/2002. It used my Nextel 9600 baud wireless modem. The site doens't work anymore (it's .asp based and all my servers are *nix based now). It can be found here http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://...ereismycar.org

On the google maps, there is a little link on the top right that says satellite. If you click that it will show show actual images of the area youre looking at. Can you also use this view with this tracker?

Not with this tracker, yet. Frodo and I were talking about it last night, we just haven't had time to write any code for it yet. We do have it mostly figured out though. Note, the satellite images only cover half the U.S. right now.
