  • making a BAT file?

    hi,

    how do u i make a bat file using notepad that can open up a number of programs.
    and also controls if they load maximised or minimised

        same as running it from the command line. That's all a batch file does. If you wanna get a little more crazy with it, you may be better off with a visual basic script.

          dam i havent touched vb in about 5 years..
          i think i will stick with the bat file

          can i use a call command?

          call c:\.....exe

            well the call comand dont work

            but i figured u can just put the apps link in "" and it woks

            1 line like this
            "c:\Program Files\Winamp\winamp.exe"
            makes winamp open

            nice..

              yup, or use the 8.3 file names. like c:\progra~1\winamp\winamp.exe

              and I think you can still use the call command.

                also now do i make the dos window close automaticly after the winamp like has been read and winamp is open..

                  Welp, I think due to the nature of batch files, it waits until the instance it created is closed before moving onto the next item of the batch file.

                  How about you tell me what you're trying to do exactly, with which version of windows, and I'll see if maybe I could throw you together a quick vbs.

                    i want to fun fordo as the shell
                    then i want frodo to open the batch file which will open a number of apps
                    make sence?

                      ok, in your batch file, use the START command.

                      START c:\progra~1\winamp\winamp.exe
                      START (next program you want)
                      etc.

                      This way it doesn't wait for the called program to end.
