  • GPS Speedometer

Hey. I am looking for a GPS based speedo that displays full screen. I like the one included in the 'InCar Terminal' front end but I want a standalone app. Basically a full screen GPS speedo, ideally that looks like an analogue speedometer.

Quite easy to do, if you have the GPS signal split so the app has its own COM port.

Are there any that display in MPH rather than Kilometers? I'll try downloading the files and see if it's just an easy edit to the skin that'll do it.

                Change image files

It looks like it only needs an editing of the png file (or files if you want different skins) to make it Mph. I will do this if I get time but if someone else wants to then please post it up

*EDIT* I can't get this to run, everytime I try I just get an error "GPSspeedo has encountered a problem and needs to close"

*ANOTHER EDIT* I didn't have .NET framework installed, but now I do I get the error "Application has generated an exception that could not be handled". Any ideas?

Try this prototype. http://www.lawlai.com/mp3car/GPSApps.zip you should run GPSConfig to set up the INI file, it will save it int he app directory. Then run GPSSpeedo while the GPS is active. Just a rough prototype, source code in Delphi available to anyone who would like to take it further.

Interesting, I'll try it later, maybe I didn't set the GPS speed units.

                      It *looks* good though!

looks great I'll try it tonight and report back.

Any way to switch km/hr as the main unit?

                        Any way to skin it?

You're welcome to the source code if you want it. It isn't skinable as it is and I think would be hard to make it so as the gauge increments have to line up with the needle configuration just right.

Anyone with Delphi is welcome to the source code, it's nothing special.

                          Chris.

Yup, same here. I was traveling at 40 mph, and it was showing 74 mph or so....

My GPS software was yielding 40 mph too (iGuidance)

I just uploaded a new one that should be a bit more accurate, same link, only GPSSpeedo.exe has changed.
