  • using a round screen?

searched, didn't find. pls correct me if i'm wrong.
i'll need my entire screen, in gps and music mode, to be a circular display, as it will be mounted in a round hole, rather than rectangular. only for this one monitor, though. i will have another full screen monitor to control everything. i just need a smaller screen in a round display (not a touch screen.) it's going in the empty gauge hole (in the middle) shown below. i was going to install the rectangular screen behind the hole. should it even be an issue? if i control all functions from other buttons/screens, does it even matter for this since it's not a touch screen? i just won't be able to see the cut off corners behind the hole?

can this be done? is it a skinning thing?
    thanks

I do not believe you will be able to get the entire Navigation screen to show up in the round "hole" You will only be able to see the part that is displayed on the screen that the hole allows through.

For the music and FE stuff, you can accomplish that with skinning, but since skinning doesn't really change the underlying Navi screen (it just embeds the entire screen, or puts a skin over the screen, it won't change that).

old thread, i know, but during an unrelated search tonight i upon this: http://www.tmdisplay.com/tm_dsp/pres.../07-10-17.html

it's a round lcd screen developed by toshiba..

it's pretty cool, and might work well in-dash for various applications, like the one i'm still contemplating. it's apparently designed for automotive applications like speedo and tach...
