  • Button-less skin?

I currently use frodoplayer, but may consider switcing to another frontend. currently looking into centrafuse. I use a shuttle express for controlling just about everything. I prefer the tactile control of real buttons. But, all skins seem to be made with touch screen control in mind. I dont need most of, if any, of the on screen buttons. is there a skin for any front end that doesnt have many on screen buttons?

you need at the least something on the screen or else you will likely not know what function you have highligted (song next pause) etc
if u plan on using only audio (no navigation text input radio etc) and not search
sure it can be done get a skin for roadrunner remove the buttons resize the other stuff and you all set good luck trying to build a playlist and add text tho
i have a shuttle as well and its great it just cant do it all

I dont use playlists at all, so thats not an issue. I have my shuttle set up to control frodoplayer with just the buttons on the shuttle. I dont need to highlight anything on screen except for scrolling through songs. So right now the on screen buttons are just taking up space. I can try to modify a skin myself, buti ahave never done it. So, i was just wondering if anyone knew if such a skin existed already. I wasnt able to find anything by searching.

No skins like that exist. No one is stupid enough to make a skin with nothing in there. You can make one yourself. Centrafuse doesn't allow you to remove the main buttons. Good luck.

Ofcourse it does... just remove then on skin and make size one pixel or so... then theyre efectively removed. bad thing though is that centrafuse support for hotkeys is quite miserable...

No need to call it stupid. There are quite a few people on these forums that prefer real buttons over a touch screen. touch screens are cool, but real buttons are much easier to use while driving. And glare isnt such an issue either. I will try to make my own skin and post it here when finished.

What will you make your own skin for ?

I agree about the amount of buttons on the screen ...... I'm using the OEM sat nav screen, and don't even have the touch screen !

Since I haven't made a skin before, I am going to attempt to modify the FrodoPlayer skin I use now. I am pretty good with photoshop and illustrator, but I won't have time to start until next week.

I use MediaEngine with a keypad controller. I took a look around at a couple of the other offerings and didn't really like them as much as ME in a touchless environment. It's a great minimalistic interface (with touch controlls disabled) that does everything /I/ need it to, and only a bit that I don't.
