  • which front end is the easiest/user friendly?

ya which front end is the easiest to use and make skins for?

    thanks

ive tried frodoplayer, media engine, neocar, autotouch, roadrunner and some others

neo car seems the best, dont understand how to make skins though, and second is media engine

    anyone else use somethin different?

I just use Road Runner and though it may not be the easiest to initially setup I've been able to fairly easily tweak a few skins just by doing a little reading and looking at existing skins, and I have no programming experience whatsoever.

I also like centrafuse. Just install it and it works... no need to spend hours to configure it and customize it...

I found Mobile Impact to be very easy and extremely simple to integrate with iGuidance if that's of interest to you.

Download and install all of them.
You are the only one who can tell which one best for you.
If you know VB and want to trick a little here and there, RoadRunner is the only one.

easiest to install and go Centrafuse (free while in beta)
                easiest to skin FrodoPlayer (free)
easiest to use (any) strongly depends on what skin you have installed
                most powerfull RoadRunner (free)
                most configureable RoadRunner (free)

                personal opinions:
RoadRunner could easily take the crown for easiest to install and go
RoadRunner is also the easiest to use if you have the right skin and do a little reading before you just jump in. Although Centrafuse has a nice ui, some things arent the easiest to do but other aspects are easy as pie (like setup).
RoadRunner is most extensible frontend available, just kind of think of yourself as an OEM and tweak the system to do whatever you want it to do. And its also updated at a significantly faster rate than any other software on this forum so thats also a huge pluss. Also most every updated has new features and fixes, not just fixes. Also, there are far more skins available for RoadRunner than any other frontend which is also a huge pluss.

above all, download them all and give them a good run and use what you like.

I agree with Liquid_Smoke about RoadRunner. I've just got to the end of my "play around" period of trying different Front Ends and I've got to say, Road Runner takes the cake in most areas that are important to me. It's responsive and isn't a CPU hog. As far as skinning, I'm not sure how easy/hard it is to create a skin, but the amount of available and user-created skins compared to other front ends has to tell you something. Also it appears you can skin it to just about any layout you can imagine so not all skins for RR look like clones with different color schemes, they are unique and have cool new ideas. Strong program with a strong following, you can't go wrong. But don't take my word for it, download them all and try them out. You'll find the right one for you.

ya im starting to get in the liking of RR, its now between that or centrafuse, i like CF better but it seems to slow down my comp more (then again i havent tried Rr on the carputer, just on my desktop)

how do i get album art in road runner?

It'll use the first .jpg file it comes across in the folder for that album. Assuming your music is separated so Albums are in separate folders just stick the .jpg art in that folder, as far as I know it doesn't matter what it's named.
