I'd say it is all a matter of preference. Since you mention CF I assume that you have Centrafuse installed, this comes with gps software(europe only), obdII interface, Dvd and music player, XM TV and radio if you have the required hardware, And phoco for interfacing with a bluetooth enabled phone. All these should give you a good base for whatever you want to do in a car.
Since you mentioned snes9x I would suggest mobile emulator which includes snes9x along with a few other emulators and makes it easy to use an emulator in your car through a touch screen for at least selecting the game.
Other then that its up to you, if you have a different gps software you prefer use that instead. Mostly just think of what you would like and search, if its a program that hasnt been made yet and you dont know how to program you can ask, not guaranteeing that you will get a good response or have it the next day or week if you do but people are willing to help.

Its an actual app. Although it is built into the Mobile Impact frontend. Its made by the same guy, he split it off for others to use. Just do a search of the forum for mobile emulator and you will find it.

ok so how do i use it? i installed it, and i ran it (not in cf) but do i load the rom or the emulator? none of my rom files show up (well they cant be zipped correct?)

but still even if its unzipped, the rom files wont show up(n64 shows up, but not the snes roms) and the snes emulator is sooo outdated

Will for the outdated emulator just copy the newest version over it should still work. As for why you SNES roms arent showing up if they dont end with the extension *.smc then just rename them. Normal nintendo wants .NES and then for the gameboys is .gb .gbc or .gba depending on the Gameboy rom.

Did you install it to the default folder? And if you did the upgrade did you put the files in the same folder and call everything the same? I didn't right it just talkin from experience with that. The other thing is it could be the wrong type of rom.

I know some some of the emulators are a bit outdated, but I use them because they work the best with my code on the program. My code requires 2 things and I require a third. The first thing is it has to be able to run a string like this... "c:\program files\mobile impact\snes\snes9x.exe" "path to rom file" working directory -> "c:\program files\mobile impact\snes" if any of these parts are wrong then it will have a problem. The 2nd thing is the emulator must resize in the window when it gets captured, not keeping the same aspect ratio, it has to stretch and the 3rd thing I require is that it has the option to use a joystick. I would roll back to the original versions of the emulators. Usually if the screen goes black it is because it either cant find the correct exe for the emulator program, or on a rare occassion it happens because of a bad rom file.
