  • Old Winamp Plugins

Does anyone know where I can find older winamp visualisation plugins, preferable full screen, which will run on a 200mhz PC.

Basically I've aquired an old PC at work, which I'm using purely for winamp, and nearly all the plugins on winamp.com look slow an jerky and the PC can't cope with the graphics.

Don't ash what the actual spec is as I don't know, I suppose I could look but that would take time, and effort.

And you say people actually pay money for M$ Windows?

back in ye olden days there wern't really any full screen vis's, just little addon ones that were windowed around winamp (1.x days). And I dont think a p200 would have that much power left over from decoding it to do a purdy full screen vis (i may be mistaken however). And if you did find something, it would probably run at some insane resolution (160x100), which actually would probably look ok on a small lcd in the car.

      Hey Rob,

I used this a long time ago with a P133, it's only a spectrum analyzer but it looks pretty good: http://winamp.com/plugins/detail.jhtml?componentId=3277

      Not sure about fullscreen though...

My p200 runs full screen visuals quite nicely. After some searching and tweaking, I stumbled upon something that is already a part of winamp. It's called "Nullsoft Tiny Fullscreen 2001" and if you just go into the visualization options and just select it should be good to go. It runs random visualizations and runs pretty damn smooth on my P200.

        good luck!

Huntington Bay, also on the north shore...I just took a look at your setup, awesome job man! I wish I had the skills to make my own casing, I wouldn't know where to start. I also have a Haupphauge WinTV in my desktop PC, but I thought that only took video in, is there a way to have it do video out?

I am currently in the middle of making my car PC, and the only thing left is a cheap V-OUT card =)

I'd love to take credit for the casing, but the only thing I did was paint it black and mount it. It was designed for rack mount industrial control stuff and was built that way.

The WinTV, like yours, is video in only and will be left out of my next setup, 'cuz all I get is TV55 and some spanish station. The screen is VGA input.

Good luck with the car system
