  • Issue with TinyXP

I purchased the auto power on module from w3bm4st3r for laptops and it works perfectly. Although I have never soldered before, and it took me several attempts and two burns, I got it done. It works great. I tried using the shutdown software that he recommends but it doesn't work on my pc. I run tinyxp. I noticed, after installing this OS, when I run on battery, I don't get the battery icon on the bottom of the screen. So, I think something was left out of the OS that is stopping the shutdown control software from recognizing that the laptop is on battery power. I went into control panel and changed the power settings to portable. Checked the box to display the icon on the bottom of the screen. It always stays on the picture of a power cord, even after I disconnect the power cord from the laptop. Any ideas?

Sounds like TinyXP doesn't have the power management service necessary for the software.
Yet another reason to avoid stripped=down variants of an OS.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

Better off doing a full XP install, then delete extra files, uninstall extra crap, and disable certain services., E-Cig Mods

have to agree with the above. Don't mess with stripped down operating systems unless you know exactly what you getting into. Tiny will be done for normal ATX boards so wont have any power management in it for laptops.

I agree with 100%. If I knew how to strip it down myself, I would. Still learning about OS's.

TinyXP after version 6 should have power management for laptops- I know Platinum Ed. does.

TinyXP rev09 gives lots of installation options and afterwards lets you install some components with eXPerience batch files.
