  • make a delay in startup programs

Hi all hope someone has a answer to this.

I am trying to delay the startup of Road Runner when window starts by a few seconds. Is there any way to do this?

I just bought a couple of the serial to usb adapters for my ir reciever & lcd display (to resume hibernation)

My problem in when windows comes back from hibernation it re initializes the USB serial adapter and does not have enough time to finish the re initialization when Road Runner is already started. So I have to close down Road Runner and open it up again to get it to work with the devices again.

So is there ay way to delay the startup up of Road Runner For a few seconds?
    Thanks

    Hi There

Had the same Problem and used a vbscript i found on a german website.
not sure if this will work for hibernate.
    Code:

    Option Explicit
    Dim objShell
    Dim intWarten
    intWarten = 120000    ' Millisekunden
    WScript.Sleep intWarten
    Set objShell = Wscript.CreateObject("Wscript.Shell")
    objShell.Exec ("%windir%\System32\taskmgr.exe")

    ' () Copyright 2004 www.Giza-Web.de
The 120000 are milliseconds an behind objShell.Exec is the Path to your app.

there is a command in windows NT-2k-xp that can be used to wait some seconds "sleep.exe", but i think probably is unuseful resuming from hibernation....

did this work for you when resuming from hibernation?.. and if so.. how did you run the script during resume??

There's a new option in RR to disable the hibernate handling (this would prevent the serial port from closing) -- It's something to try... otherwise, "IF" you use the menu to hibernate, you can make the command "HIBERNATE||RUNW;!<PATH+APP+PARS>" to make it wait.. (it will hibernate before the runw gets executed and then on resume it should run it/wait -- just something else to try..) but I can very easily add a tweak option to wait a few specified seconds before resuming RR when coming out of hibernate -- woud that help ?

that would be awesome.. if you had the option of telling it to wait until USB devices are initialized upon resuming.. but then I am running frodoplayer.. and i would still be stuck...

maybe Frodo could add this to take 4 as well.. right there with the 5 million other development requests...
