  • Virtual Memory on pendrive WinXP

    Hello!

Can I place my pagefile on a pendrive in WinXP?
In Win2K you can easily set the pagefile on a "removable disk", which makes a significant performance increase, because less I/O is required on the HDD.
In WinXp Pro SP2 I just can't set the pagefile on the removable disk. It says to reboot, but noting happens after rebooting, the pagefile remains on the local HDD.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,
    Buco

I don't know if WinXP will allow a pagefile on a removable drive.
Since that's one of the first things that Windows handles upon bootup, it may very well not be able to create the pagefile on the USB drive, since drivers for it haven't been initialized yet.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
      How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.
