  • Multiple skin settings?

**Question also posted in MM forum**

Is there any way in Freedrive (or MM for that matter) to have the settings file reside in a RR skin directory?

What I'm aiming for is 2 skin directories for RoadRunner - one for day, one for night. I don't want to go down the gamma route.

RR can control an auto-skin switch time, so I'd like my night-view FD settings to coincide with my night skin in RR.

So my idea is to have a 'Freedrive.INI' inside the RR skin directory so the day/night view alters either by a set time or by my changing the RR skin manually.

    Any ideas?

i'm sure this is possible, you would just need to get RR to send out a sdk command so freedrive would change its skin. I havent looked into how RR auto changes its skin, but if its by command then you could just tag on the end the command for freedrive.

will look into this tonight if I get time :-)

ok.. I've sorted the zoom problem out, I've changed the way it splits the line so its compatable with RR.. O.. the command line you need in RR to get FD to change its skin is SENDMSG;FDSDK;night .. so if you wanted to add a button, you would stick in something like

      B01,694,000,044,054,"SENDMSG;FDSDK;night","" or
      B01,694,000,044,054,"SENDMSG;FDSDK;day",""

I'm sure you get the idea :-) On the next release you will be seperating the FD values by : instead of he double || I was using.

COMsend "FDSDK","INPUT:L" would input the letter L into the text box :-)
      or in RR
      "SENDMSG;FDSDK;INPUT:L" (note the ; and : difference)

Ok, this command works to change the FD skin, but when I'm on my RR menu screen and I hit his button, it brings FD to the front on top of my menu

you could try using multi-commands.. like SENDMSG;FDSDK;hide then the SENDMSG;FDSDK;night ... then on your gps button your would then need to use the SENDMSG;FDSDK;show so the only time FD would be visable would be when u goto the gps screen which is what you want :-) I'm sure RR supports multi-commands on one line.. had a quick look at the ream me mind u and nothing jumps out at me.

let me know how you get on

          cheers

what might also be possible is using these hide / show commands to show FD in different skins.. you could also use the resize sdk command. This would allow you to make a tiny map say so it shows on the main menu, then when you flick back to the gps menu, you just issue the resize command again so FD returns to normal. If you get what I mean. I'm going to be having a play soonish I hope. If your doing this, then you would need to use the C01 clip window in RR so you could see FD underneth.

            cheers

Yes, resizing to have a small piece of map on the menu, hiding the zoombar (preferably) and at auto-zoom level would be really cool...

it would also allow to have split screens for vide/gps for example, or even PIP (picture in picture)! (if Cxx commands - clip - in RR can be put on top of videos..not sure)

              Awesome!
