  • OEM GPS with FD?

    Hi CDR,

I changed my GPS to OEM garmin sytem and although the peformance is amazing I am having some problems...

occasionally after hibernation I am unable to get FD to detect the GPS. At first I thought your hibernation recovery was ****y, but it isnt!

I think that because this is a regular com post, not a usb-sefrial adaptation that maybe the fact that it isnt closed properly is sometimes giving this problem... I cant really reproduce it at will, but I have found that when it happens I must reboot.

Can you tell me if there is a way you can catch the hibernation event and close the GPS port? and then re-open it when we get back from hibernation?

    Thanks!

Any ideas for putting a PC in this? :)

Hi Royn, FD already does this. On the 0.70 preview on sensing the hibernation command it closes the gps port, then opens it again on resume.

Thats weird... do you think in the next version you could include some debug info in the GPS-Settings window?

Maybe a textbox that says when the comport is open, etc, and spits out the nmea signals so we can check that there is comm between gps unit and fd?

you can check to see if your gps unit is working by just opening up hyperterminal and using that. I will be adding a delay timer to the reconnect code, as I think on some devices like mine its trying to reconnect before the usb device had plugged itself back in, if you know what I mean.. this will be in the next version

        cheers

CDR, can you put an option to disable hibernation handling?

I think that my OEM gps might like it better with no handling.... still testing but preliminary tests suggest....
