  • gpsfeed+ for testing without connection

i'm currently doing a skin for RR in which i want to display FD data, all seems to be well but testing is annoying since my desktop does not move all that much.
    so:

i need an app that simulates gps data for an (european) trip. i have searched and this http://users.hol.gr/~dzach/gpsfeed/ looks promising, but i can't get it to work.

    questions:

    will it work, and how.
do you know of a better app that would work for me

ah, it works, it sends output to serial port (read manual and everything, i know..)

so with a virtual serial port:

    (http://www.mks.zp.ua/vspdxp.php-- shareware) / (http://curioustech.home.insightbb.com/xport.html -- occasional blue screens)

    i'm up and running

ps. would someone in a place with weird caracter streetnames (germany, france etc.) make a recording of an actual trip (and post the gps.txt) please?

    many thanks

any help with this, i;d like to get my skin finished before my gps arrives.

does anybody know where to find nmea logs (for a place that's covered by the standard european maps on destinator 3 cd) for use with this program.
i've tried converting some of these gps trips people put online, but this has not let to a usable file.

can somebody please help me out with a log of a trip?

I could make a log for you..(living in Norway, where we use זרו as special chars) but every time I turn on logging in freedrive, it crashes (and i have to edit the ini file and turn loggin off)

                Any ideas?

(running freedrive 0.9alpha from the RR mc2.0 skin)

the log feature in FD isnt what this guy needs, he needs a proper log.. lol althought saying this it might do if he edits it slightly. and yep it might be becaus eyou havent created a folder called 'logs' in the freedrive folder like it says to :-)

Create the log folder... okay I'll try this.. but "like it says to"... where exactly does it say that? I've looked for some usage readme.. but not found (both in mp3car and the freedrive forum (and of course in the freedrive folder))... can you give me some pointers to where i can find this documentation?

And if you need a log with a different tool than freedrive.. okay... what tool?

edit: dumb *** me... with gpsfeed+ of course.. haha!

Hey, this is really cool. I think i'm a little confused on the process (which isn't surprising). I downloaded GPSFeed and i can simulate gps coordinates. I'm looking at the connections settings and i have it set on com1. This is my serial port and the only thing that it runs without an error from GPSfeed. Is this reading or writing from com1?

next, i tried the comport splitter. It has an imput and output port. if i try to read from com1, then run gpsfeed, it can no longer open that port. WHich port is real and which is virtual?

                            thanks,

I'm having the same problem. It looks like gpsfeed locks the com port so no other applications can use it.
                              help?
