Hi Zorro, i'm hoping you can help me.

i have an NEC E616 3G CDMA mobile and a sitecom CN-500 BT dongle.
My PC can see my phone fine to send files etc and it does have a headset profile and when i connect to hyperterminal it tells me the manufacturer is NEC etc.
however, when i try to use phone control i get the icon in the system tray and after a few seconds it says timeout, make sure port is not in use.

i have tried all the manufacturers on the list that comes up when you start the program but none of them work, i know the com port is 11 because that works with hyperterminal.
any ideas of what is wrong and what i can try??
    Thanks

      nextel phones....

I have looked through this forum and havent found anything but I was wondering if the software will work with phones connected through a data cable? I have a nextel i730 and I can use hyperterminal to connect to the phone and even dial out and establish and internet connection through it. However when I launched phone control I only had the option of choosing com 4 (so I did) now whenever i launch the software I get an error saying "opening the communication port failed!!" Also the data cable I am using is usb not sure if that makes a difference. Any help is appreciated.

            Using a Panasonic X70

            Guys,
anyone have any idea where I could pick up a list of the AT commands that I need to send to my panny X70?

I've done the standard read through the manual and look on the web site, yes I have even 'd

I can get the panny connected via BT and using hyperterminal I can communicate with the phone as per the "chapter 10" instructions.

My problem comes when I fire up phonecontrol, it accepts the modem settings and fires up OK. But I am unable to use it.
The phonebook loading fails and I am unable to compete a manual dial (I get an error with a close / continue option)

I assume that it all stems from some specific AT commands that the panny has different from the 'normal' phones. I've tried a number of settings including Nokia but no joy.

I hacked the xml file to include a Panasonic profile but based on the Nokia (cut 'n paste) but looks like I need a few changes to kick start things

            All assistance greatfully received......

                Hi Zorro,
I've wrapped the error files into a zip file for you
                here

                Summary of my actions,
                -----------------------
To kick off I uninstalled & re-installed the application (just in case)

I then tore down the pairing between the PC and phone and rebuilt it.
The phone appeared on com 6 (Outgoing 'modem') and com9 (Incoming)

Using com6 I did the usual 'chapter 10' stuff and all seems well.

I then set up PhoneControl.Net as a Motorola on com6
I attempted to make a manual call and received an error.
PhoneCtlLog.txt for this is PhoneCtlLog- motorola.txt
manual dial error.rtf has a snapshot of the error screen plus the dialog below it

I replaced the PhoneCtl.Config.xml file with the original and set it up as a Nokia on com 6
PhoneCtlLog- nokia -ME.txt was the result of the phonebook operation (I didn't try manual dialing)

I changed the nokia config to pull the phonebook from the sim
PhoneCtlLog- nokia - SM.txt is the reult of that.

I did notice that the logs reported a missing PhoneCtl.PB.xml
so I attempted to create a dummy one from a blank renamed txt file
This gave a 'missing root' error so I ran away
                -----------------------

                Hope this helps
                Kevin

                  Man, you was this close...

Ok, the main problem is the missing phonebook. I've attached you one you can use. Simply replace my name and the numbers (and remove the .txt from the filename).

The one you've tried to get the phonebook from the Nokias "SM" storage seemed to work but it ran into an Timeout. Try to set the attribute timeout on <PhoneBookLocation....> to ="90" (you may take a look into the manual for that.

If you don't get the phonebook from your phone, try PBConverter instead or the Outlook option.

                    Story of my life

OK, I used your phonebook and I now have it displayed.
I extended the timeout to 90 as you suggested - no joy.
I also changed the PB location back between SM and ME but again - no joy.

Looks like I'll need to do it manually using the converter - not the end of the world.

When I dial manually, I can make an o/g call OK but the digits that I dial are not appearing above the dialpad.
I seem to remember that the digits used to appear when I tried it with a Nokia 6310i.
Aslo, related, if I then make a second manual call the first call digits seem to be left in the 'calling string' so I end up attempting to make a call to the first number plus the second number....

Is it worth me sending another log file?

Thanks for your assistance in this Zorro - appreciated

The easiest way to get a phonebook is to use the Outlook feature (if you have Outlook 2002 or newer).

You're the second one telling me this undocumented feature of the dialpad. Try this:
Open the Design you use with VisaulDesigner and select the "Dial panel" then click on the Number panel and look into the properties whether the Font size is an integer number (anything between 15 and 30). If not, correct it and save the design.

The Dial panel doesn't erase the (perviously entered) number automatically. Click the number panel to erase the number entirely.

                        Hi Zorro,
checked this and the font size was set to 2526 pt (or 2625 pt - can't remember now)
I changed it to 25 pt and all is well

                        Thanks

I'm sorry for that. It's because of the regional settings (26,25 <-> 26.25).

I allways try to set integer values but sometimes I simply forget one
