  • Is this possible ?

    Hi
I have a USB bluetooth adapter with a range of 100m.
I need to connect my Phone to my laptop and then connect my jabra BT250 to the laptop and use the BT250 to receive calls, this way I would have been able to extend my phones bluetooth range upto 100m ?? So is this possible? If so how can I do it.

    Thanks

    This will not working.
Your Bluetooth adapter range is 100m, but your phone bluetooth only is 10m (max 20m).

Right... if you want to use advantages of Class I (100 m range), both devices must be of Class I.
Spend a minute by searching, I remeber someone posted a link to a online guide for hacked USB BT adaptor to have range of 1.4 km by using some sort of external antena. I guess the post was titled like "one mile range bluetooth mod" or something.

I think I did not communicate properly what i wanted to say. See the phone will be close to the Laptop within the 30Ft limit. But the headphone (Jabra BT250) is what i want to take away roam around the office floor. So if i am getting a call I dont miss it if i am away from my desk. That way I dont have to carry my phone around and can leave it at/in my desk and just carry my bluetooth headset. What say is this possible ??

No - your Jabra will only have a range of a few metres.

Interesting though that you are looking to make a mobile phone....mobile.

Actually I am a little confused. OK let me explain how i got this idea, I just got a USB bluetooth adapater with a range of 100m. Now i plugged in that adapter to the laptop and connected my PDA to it. I played some music on the PDA which was playing on the Laptop Speakers (as i was using the headset service of the laptop). Now i increased the distance between the PDA and the phone and there was no detiorartion of quality and the music was playing beautifully on the speaker. I went into every corner of my apartement the music still played beautfully. Then i tried the next step, i.e. broke the exisitng connection between the laptop and pda and connected the laptop to my Jabra BT250. This time I played the music on the laptop and listened to it on the Jabra BT250.. Again went into every corner of the apartment and no change in quality..

So I go the idea why not link the pda to the laptop and the laptop to the Jabra headset and in effect I would have a connection between my PDA and headset with a range of 100m.

But unfortunately i learnt that at any point in time only one device can connect to the blue tooth adapter adn this i found to be true because if I try to link my Headset to the laptop while the PDA is conencted it simply says cannot establish connection.

So now that I hope i have conveyed what I am trying to do .. is there any way to achieve this..

Are you talking about a PDA or a Phone, because you keep interchanging.

i think the point we're all delicately trying to communicate is that ONE 100m bt device is not enough. you're gona need TWO of them..

the bluetooth device connected to your computer should allow more than one connection, however your phone and headset will only allow one connection. So basically what you are wanting to do is route the audio from your phone, to your computer, and then to the headset right? I have a 100m bluetooth dongle and i can connect several phones at once (havent been using audio only serial ports so it could be different with audio) Theoretically i guess its possible but i would imagine it would be more trouble than its worth, the answer button on the headset wont work, it will just auto answer all calls which would be a real pain in the ***.

On another note using a 100m bluetooth dongle with a 10m bluetooth device will increase the range, it wont increase it too 100m but it will substantially increase it nonetheless. My k700i is still connected to my bluetooth dongle in the family room which is ~20m through which there are 3 walls and a floor
