  • Mic keeps unmuting on resume

    Hi,
When navivoice is running it keeps unmuting my mic when i resume from hibernation which gives me a low noice some times. Also it turns the mic volume to 0 so i can't use my mic for cellphone operation without changing the level. I tested NaviVoice with muted mic and it works fine. Also remarkably it works with the mic level at 0 but it works way better with the mic level around 60% so I don’t see y it should unmute the mic and lower the level every time.

NaviVoice is an amazing program by the way...!! and the best part is showing off to friends.... a talking car...!!!hehehe

Glad that you like the program

About the volume: NaviVoice doesn't have any code that can control volume. So I'm guessing that its either another program doing that, or just windows. My resume code just finds routis and reconnects the GPS.

Hmmmm... Well I was afraid of that hehe, but I think that this happens only what NaviVoice is running! I will test this and get back to u! My suspicion is that SAPI has something to do with it! Today, I was training it and I changed the mic level. When I finished the training the mic level was 0 again... and unmuted I don’t get it...
Anyway thanks for the fast reply. Since nobody else said any thing I suppose that I am the only one with that problem

        You may be the first

Oh yeh, NaviVoice also turns recognition off and then on after hibernatation. This is because if I hibernate with SAPI then you'd need to restart NaviVoice. But turning off recognition is not the same thing as turning the mic to 0. Turning recognition off is just that, SAPI won't interpret anything.

It took me a while to test it… Too busy studying… I found out that when I start Navivoice my mic automatically unmutes, and if I close it mutes again! Since Navivoice does not change any thing as u said I suppose it is SAPI that dose this. It a pain in the a** since when I put loud music I get a sound loop that is apparently very annoying… If you have any insight PLEASE help!!! Or since I know very little about programming if you could write a batch or something that I could run in resume to mute the mic every time… I’d really appreciate it! Any help is more than welcome…

I wish it was that simple! thas is exactly my problem! I go to the sound control panel, and the mic is mute. If i start Navivoice it ummutes it and lowers the mic volume automatickly... if i mute it again manualy it says like that until i go to hibernation and resume. After resume that navivoice restarts the recognition it does the same thing. That means that this happens when sapi starts the recognition. could it be from the voice recognition settings?? i sherched but could not find any thing related! have u tried to simulate the problem? Look at your mic mute button after you restart navivoice. I don't uderstand y this could be only in my computer! i have a standard set up for this forum...! By the way i am posting from the car!

Waht did you mean by "sound loop"? I thought that you were hearing what you were playing through your speakers though your speakers again. That's why I said to follow that link

I do hear what I play since the mic is not muted but if i put the music loud then it becomes that very loud high pitch noise like when you put a microphone close to the speaker. That is because the mic keeps hearing the same noise it creates and reamplifies it! Since the high freq sound is better distinguished by the mic that is you hear more. That is y it is caled a sound loop from what I know.

I did. and it look like the same but when I go and mute the mic in the sound control panel it stays muted until i restart navivoise or resume from hibernation or suspension... which means that I must mute the mic every time I start my car! that is definitely not practical. I don’t know how they keep it muted after resume... mine does not and that is related to Navivoice... Since I LOVE that program and i don't want to give it up i am trying to find a solution...

My point is that you shouldn't be hearing whatever is coming out of the speakers through the MIC. Like if you put the MIC next to the speaker and play something, you should not hear an "echo" or feedback. Read this... hope it helps

I only hear echo when i have the music REALLY loud. First reson is that when that unmute thig happens also the mic volume goes close to zero so the mic does no pick up any music even though navivoice works perfectly! but since the mic is not muted and very low i can't use it with my bluetooh phone as hands free. Of course there are few times that i have echo with loud music... usuly in the form of that high pitch noise.

Ok. I hope those guys can point you in the right direction. I don't have an EPIA, and I don't plan to, so I wouldn't know
