  • Cell Phone + carpc speaker + mic

searched and obviously didnt find the answer...

Is there a way integrace a cell phone (using usb, preferrebly bluetooth) to the carpc where call audio is output thru the car speakers and you can use a microphone (logitech), instead of using the phone or bluetooth head set???

As far as i know phonecontrol is the only cell phone related software available, but it doesnt allow you to make totaly handsfree calls, only dial and stuff.

    thanks

Streetdeck has this capability, but it's also a full-on front-end.

If you're looking for an application that only handles the bluetooth/phone interface, I am not aware of one.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

It seems like you sort of misunderstood.

First, PhoneControl CAN work in handsfree mode for certain phones and if you are lucky. The handsfree functionality itself is implemented in Widcomm Bluetooth stack, which PhoneControl needs anyway, so by smartly using these two pieces of software with a fully supported phone you have a chance of making totally handsfree calls (but you will have to use the Windows interface to select a number/contact and initiate the call, no voice dialing with this setup). I heard of people who heard of people who actually have this working

Secondly, PhoneControl is not the only software of this kind: there's also FreeFone and several frontend plugins which offer roughly the same functionality.

Aha, if you buy a special super duper bluetooth dongle in addition to the one you already have for other purposes No, you cannot scrap your old dongle because you can't actually use the super duper dongle for any other purposes than making handsfree calls

          Yeah. So?
If you buy a hands-free bluetooth kit for your car stereo, you're buying basically the same thing.. Some super-secret bluetooth phone integrator box for the stereo.

The point is that it works.

Before spending any money check on PhoneControl.NET website to see if your cell phone is supported. If it is not listed it may still work but it is a gamble.

Purchase a "WIDCOMM" bluetooth dongle from any good computer store.
Make sure it is WIDCOMM as the drivers are matched to the dongle

It's available in the mp3car.com store.
It's also only compatible with StreetDeck, which may or may not be what you're looking for.

                    Well....

I have been looking for a solution to this for quite awhile....

                    http://store.mp3car.com/StreetDeck_B..._p/com-047.htm

Spells out what phones are known to work.

Phonecontrols list isn't any more impressive, and you have to pay for it as well. BTW: the phonecontrol list doesn't seem to be getting any updates.

RRMobile and FreeFone are free efforts to get similar features in frontends. However there seems to be more people having problems with thier phones than successes (I know, people tend to post with problems not successess).

Finally, I haven't read of many (if any) Verizon cell phones working (like mines...)

I would just keep an eye on these efforts and see where they lead...
