  • Audio streaming over bluetooth

Hi everyone, I am considering a major over haul of my current carputer system. I wont go into the finer details but I am looking for some feedback or experiences good or bad from anyone who has used a bluetooth device to stream audio. The type of product I am considering using can be found here http://store.apple.com/us/product/TY277LL/A

In short i would connect this device directly to my amplifiers and my new carputer substitute AKA iPad would stream audio directly to this device over bluetooth. I am considering this option instead of using the iPad doc connector as its line out only and volume control can not be controled on the iPad itself and I don't like the aesthetics of connecting via 3.5 headphone jack.

Has anyone used a similar device to stream music over bluetooth and what was the sound quality like? The audio system I currently run is high end equipment and I'm a little concerned about audio quality.

    Thank you in advance

As I said in the other thread:

It's cool for connecting a phone to a headunit as a temporary measure but you will regret using it as the main audio connection. Also, functional range is only about 5'...past that bandwidth is too low to avoid stuttering.

The reviews say that it sounds very good. I use a super cheap A2DP for audio and it sounds pretty good to me but I'm also not very picky. Good enough is good enough.

If you're overhauling your audio system, it may not be good enough for you.

Also, one of the main complaints was that your iPod didn't automatically connect to it when you came into range. I've experienced that with my bluetooth device. I think there's an order to turning on the device before it will pair automatically -or it has to have been connected to that device when it went to sleep. Not sure which as I haven't seriously investigated it yet.

Also, you may not like the aesthetics of the iPad jack connector, but you may end up trading battery life for it. I think you'll find that it may be better to build some kind of dock mechanism for the iPad and integrate the power into that or the iPad won't last that long on battery with everything running on it.

Crap I just read in a review that volume control doesn't work on the iPhone.... Wonder if this will change in an update. Bugger back to the drawing board. I wonder if the other brands have the same issue?

This one is the one I use and it controls volume but the fast forward doesn't advance the track.

I'm looking to be able to control the volume directly on the iPhone or ipad plus this device looks like it can't be in use and charging at the same time. Thanks anyway.

Bugbyte can you confirm if your device can be charging and in use at the same time

Not without modification. The charger plugs into the headphone jack, so you are either charging it or using it to listen to audio. Fixing that will require opening it up to see if it is even possible to change that.

Doesn't sound promising, Don't suppose anyone knows of any other brand that can be volume controlled by the iPhone? There is a RIM blackberry one but can't seem to find out if the iPhone volume control works on it.....

I have one of these hooked up to my truck stereo: http://www.cellularinnovations.com/product/12

I have a w08 watch/phone that interacts with the device and picks up calls and can stream music from my W08. im happy with it.

I use the bb audio gateway with my iPad and iPhone, and it works great. Yes you are still able to control the volume through the phone.
