  • Unlimited DATA Plans

I need Voice and Internet service on two different phones so I can just leave one phone in my car hard wired(internet).

    Data-CARD/CHEAP phone
    Voice Plan - placing calls...

Whats the best company for SOCAL for the above in unlimted data?

I have been searching but maybe we need to start a poll on this to see what you are all using

    let me know

    thanks

Do you have a cell phone right now? If so, which provider do you use?

    Cingular
    Verizon
    T-mobile
    Nextel
    Sprint
    Other

Once you answer this, I can help you a little bit more.

    Peace,

Best thing to do would be to add a line/make your self a family plan (either $9.99/14.99/19.99 extra/month) depending on which plan you have. And then add the Media Net Unlimited for $19.99/month. U can find out how to get it to connect on howardforums.com, or just PM me when you get the new phone, and I'll help you out.

Remember, this is not going to be broadband speeds. I've gotten 56k-128K connections. It's basically like dial up maybe a little bit faster.

        Peace,

            cingular
59 a month for a family plan with two phones + 20 for media net
            40 a month for a single plan + 20 for media net

I want an unlimited data only plan for round 20 bucks becuase the second phone is going to be mounted in the seat and I will never be using the voice on it but I will be paying 20 dollars more for a family plan for it + media net.

Also you say the speeds were up to 128kbps, What about EDGE and later EDVO.

            thanks

Edge is $80/month. EVDO is for Verizon/Sprint. What your thinking of I think is called GAIT.

If you got a completely new plan with cingular, it would be

              $59.99 2 lines 500Min, free mtm, free n/w, + $20 for net. = $70/month.

              If you want edge, $40/month, 450min, free m2m, 5000n/w (83hrs) + $80 = $120

Cingular has nation's largest Edge network. http://onlinestorez.cingular.com/cel...3&mapt=dataMap

I don't know how much GAIT will cost.

EVDO on Verizon is also $80/month ~400k-2mbps, I don't know if Sprint has their EVDO service rolling yet.

T-mobile offers about the same as Cingular. although if you want, u can have internet only for $30/month.
              http://www.t-mobile.com/plans/default.asp?tab=internet
$40/month + $30/month = $70/month. but then you have to get a gprs pcmcia card http://www.t-mobile.com/products/ima...272&class=data for $99. So it ends up being a little bit more expensive. T-mobile has edge also, but no info on their site.

Browsing speeds, not download, and it depends on your phone.

                thanks for the great info!

T-Mobile has a great deal right now 1000 minutes free nights and weekends for 40 a month!

I thought the bad thing with T-mobile was there internet is only GPRS and not EDGE

                GPRS being the 128kps range

                thanks

Yeah, in the west coast they use Cingulars OLD crappy network. They bought their antennas off of them. ANd the funny thing is (I don't know if that's true still), is that when they roam over to Cingular's new network, T-mobile charges users Digital Roaming.

I had a friend that had a national plan, and was getting charged 35 cents/min for making calls from his work, 15min away.

                    Peace,

Maybe in Hayward it is a problem. Where are your friends. He is in SoCal. I am in SoCal, and I use T-Mobile. First off, get past this very fact, NO PROVIDER HAS 100 PERCENT COVERAGE, 100 PERCENT OF THE TIME. This is plane and simple.

Now, I am happy with T-Mobiles coverage. It works extrememly well in LA County. I have traveled between LA and SF, and never had an issue (true, I am mostly on the Interstate) but have been to some ****holes towns (I got to the track at Willowsprings, and have traveled into the town on the East side of the Freeway about 30 miles) and never lost coverage. I have never had a Problem in the SF area, though I have never been to Hayward. I have been to Tahoe, No problem. I have been to Big bear, No problem. I have been to Mammoth, again, no problem (while my friends with Sprint had NO coverage for the entire trip we were in Mammoth). I have traveled to most of the major, and some minor cities, in So Cal, and never had an issue. Yet, there was one block on my way home from work that I just didn't have service. No rhyme or reason, just no service. If I went a block in either direction, I was golden. Wierd.

Sure, I have bad reception sometimes, everyone does. I have a friend who lives on a hill. to get to her Driveway, you have to go in a Valley, where NO ONE GETS RECEPTION. Get to her house, up on the hill, and everyone has service. That is just how it is.

Now, What the heck is Edge. I wish T-Mobile would get high speed internet for thier phones, like EVDO, instread of T-Mobile HotSpots. what a crock of ish.

Now, if you are looking for Internet in your car, you can do what I do. I have a BT adaptor. I connect the computer to the phone via BT, and connect to the net. There is even talk of not needing any special services to accomplish it. True, the speed is like dialup, or maybe a little faster, but it works flawlessly. That way, I only need one phone. If you need the service to be attached to the car even if you are not there, look into prepay with an internet option, and connect with a BT phone, and just leave it in the car.

                      Michael

One last thing, How do you know your friends aren't ignoring your call?

They Integrated Cingular into the system, they did not replace, or just use, the Cingular system when they bought thier antenna sites. I have never been charged a roaming fee.

                          15 minutes away from where?

What do you mean "external BT enabled Antenna"? What do you want to use it for?
