  • Please help - Connecting Bluetooth to Mac OSX

I’m not techy at all so I hope some of you experts out there can please help…

I bought a Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter for my MAC OSX 10.2.4 and I’ve spent all afternoon trying to work out how to connect so I can use it with my RAZR v3.

A disk came with it but it seems you just put in the adapter and restart computer and it is supposed to work (without the CD?).

I’ve plugged the adapter into my keyboard and have restarted the computer. Then I have tried to open my Bluetooth Setup Assistant but it says …

“In order to use this application, you must have a Bluetooth module. Please verify that your Bluetooth hardware is properly attached to the computer”

Can anyone please shed some light on what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks for any responses.

Have you checked to see if you have enabled Bluetooth? Look in the System Preferences under "Bluetooth". In the settings tab, you have to turn Bluetooth power on.

Please help - Connecting Bluetooth to Mac OSX

      Thanks for replying so quickly.

I did check system preferences earlier but I don't have a blue tooth option in there. But when I go into finder and do a search for bluetooth it comes up with the bluetooth setup assistant and serial utility.

Do you think there is there something missing that I need?

      thanks again..

Not sure. Was there some software you were supposed to install off that CD? Like, maybe a driver for it?

Check to see if your system is detecting it by going under the Apple menu, selecting "About this Mac" --> More info --> USB to see if your bluetooth device is being recognized.

Beyond that, check the manufacturer's website for troubleshooting info.
