  • wifi hotspots and you

Ive got a question for all the people using a wifi device for periodic connection to the net while out and about. How often is your system usuable? What i really mean to ask is if you have a wireless connection device, and you have it set to connect to any network in range, how often do you actually get useable results without going out of your way?

I dont really want to pay 60 bucks or so a month for wifi net access, but would like some net dependent features to work such as weather on RR, and maybe a few others (yet to be determined) All you really need is a few moments connection at some point and you should be able to download the weather... right? im not too concerned if the current listing is correct, i have a windshield and can tell wether its sunny, cloudy or raining... But i would like to have access to a 5 day forcast from time to time. Any insight?

I've only been using wifi for the past week but so far I have been quite surprised by how many open hotspots are available, I have found that in many of the shopping areas in my region there will be a hotspot available as well as industrial parks, hotels etc. As for the weather I find that centrafuse weather will usually be updated before I get out of range of my house in the morning.

thanks for the response tsxpc. i live in an apartment complex, so i dont know if i will be able to connect to my network, but, as soon as i get a psu im going to try it. alot of the time i will go through a fast food place or something and then eat outside. im thinking about loading up skype so that i can make free calls while just waiting around near a hotspot.
