  • War Driving Wireless G. Any good?

Anyone on here have any experience with this network adapter and if its worth the money? Tried searching but couldn't find any info on it.

If the link doesn't work it's a Linksys Group Wirelessg USB Network Adapter With SRX400. It runs about $90.00. If this is a dumb ?, sorry, new to the whole Car pc thing. Been reading the forum and researching for about 6 months though.

Looks like an access point not a wireless usb adapter. If you want to use netstumbler then dont get linksys. There may be some other good war driving software out but i've only used netstumbler. I have a pcmcia linksys and it would find networks with its network conectivity software. But i didn't really like it that much. Not sure if i helped, just giving my 2 cents.
Um, I guess this is where you put something witty.WITTY

I was originally going to get a pcmcia. My problem is that with my car pc, I don't have a pcmcia slot. Here is the car pc I bought, and yes I know it is quite pricey for what I got. I bought it before I found this web site and started researching.

Any one have some suggestions as to how I might war drive with this thing?

When I had my carputer setup with 802.11, I used a Buffalo USB Adapter that had an external antenna port, so I connected my pigtail to it, and then to the omni-directional antenna.

I have the older version of this: http://shop.netstumbler.com/detail.aspx?ID=310

The new one looks better, and smaller connector to the pigtail.

I would need to get the buffalo part number, it is a B only I believe, for for war driving, you don't need speed.
