DVD_CRASH When powering off laptop while playing DVD, VOLUP error hangs pc

Bug: If a DVD is playing and I power down the laptop I get an error and FP hangs requiring hard reboot

Error: Microsoft error box says VOLUP failed

System: Windows XP Pro SP2 WMP10 and all other updates; FP take 3; WinDVD 6.0 (for DVD codec); AC3Filter ver 0.70b

Misc: The last thing I did to CarPuter is turn the volume up when playing a DVD...
happened 3 times in a row getting in and out of truck out shopping..

Please post everything the Microsoft error box gave you.

Um... can't do that now. I'll get that info tomorrow... it's 34 degrees out there!

But it was the standard M$ error window... that was the command in the title line.

Sorry for not getting the info back to you sooner...

Microsoft error box says:

End Program -- VolUP
Program not responding

Return to windows & check the status of the program
_________________________________________________
The system is hung up and will not respond... have to do the 4 second
hold of the power button to hard reboot.

And it is the last button you push... because I tried turning the volume down on DVD
and then shutting off and that was the error I got then (volDOWN)...

If I press the stop button on the DVD it shuts down fine.

I'm using Feb's skin if that would matter...
