Best skin resolution for 848x480 display

I'm have a Lilliput 7" - with a native resolution of 800x480.
However, since I can't display this kind of resolution - I use a screen resolution of 848x480.

So, I wonder, should I create my skin:

1. As 800x480 (will be enlarged by Frodo to 848x480, then reduced by LCD to 800x480).

2. As 848x509 (will be reduced by Frodo to 848x480, then reduced by LCD to 800x480).

3. As 1200*720 (will be reduced by Frodo to 848x480, then reduced by LCD to 800x480).

Which one will yield the best quality?

(Frodo plobably knows it the best, as it depends on Frodo's resizing algorithm)

I think u should create a 848x480 skin... it will look better...

Everything will look horizontally "squashed" - because the Lilliput aspect ratio is 1.66:1 (as in 800x480) and not 1:76.

Ok, then discover the aspect ratio to apply horizontally to your skin, and build it keeping in mind that in your lilly it will look different...
I have 800x600 res on lilly...
I have found that i have to edit everything with 125% of actual height...
In your case you have a 848x480 skin wich will look like a 800x480... the ratio is 106,04%...
Make a 848x480 skin and every time you place an object wich affect aspect ratio (logos, circles, squares) keep in mind u have to stretch it horizontally by 106%...
The result will look great in your car...

Or simply keep an existing 800x480 skin and resize EVERY image by 106,04% x 100%... No more crappy pics on your lilly and the aspect will be good.

I don't wanna mess with stretching while editing the skin, etc.

1. But instead of doing that, I can edit using 848x509, and resize EVERY image to 848x480 (decreasing an image size has less quality-loss then increasing it).

2. I wonder how is FrodoPlayer's internal resize method is in comparison to Photoshop's resize method (in terms of quality).

Look for Powerstrip (made by Entech Taiwan), it may help you get to a video mode normally hidden.

Then you can make an 800x480 skin that's rendered in 800x480 and rasterized in 800x480.. Diggidy.

i tryed this software, but it works only with your phisical card resolutions...

I know it did very little for my laptop with it's onboard intel video, and while there were some really extreme instructions I found that may of worked, I didn't want to fiddle with all the advanced settings. On my CarPC it allowed me to specify exactly the resolution I wanted though, so I'd still suggest trying it.
