Thread: Live car tracking ?

ok.. I'm still working on FreeDrive, at the moment i'm trying to figure out how the fav dat files are made up and how to write a import / edit / delete program for them.. I am getting somewhere.. but its slow at the mo. I have sussed most out, just got to do the long / lat and how they are stored.

Anyway... I would like to also include a live tracking option. This would work via a modem on your carputer.. say a gprs connection would be better as it could be always on.

My basic idea would be.
Every 5 mins, Freedrive trys to access a website (also done by me)..
The access url which freedrive would create would hold your username / long / lat / speed

so this would look something like

www.freedrive.co.uk/tracking.php?u=cdrskull&lo=51.34234322&la=-2.54323444&s=43

now.. this is all the infomation that you would need.. the php on the server would then log your details with a time and date. You would then be able to access this anytime you want through freedrives site. I would of cause encrypt the url so others cant spoof details.. anyway I dont think this would take much programming..
