    Cam interface...

    Hey CDR,

is it possible to get a skin to show up over the map (or especially part of it) when a speedcam is detected?

I prefer MM's way of showing a warning on the top of the map as opposed to flashing a camera over the map... this warnign includes the speedcamera speed limit, your speed and (imho importantly) the distance in whatever unit you have selected...

Is there anyway you could maybe add a skin for that? that way we can define something that would just pop-on over the map... clicking it once could still shut it up, and clicking it again make it vanish... any thoughts?

yeah I agree speedcams defo need improving..

    hows this...

on first detection of speed cam you get a voice saying..

    300 Yards warning
    Speedcamera detected at 40mph
Then it displays the picture below..

100 Yards warning (if speed is stored)
If over the stored speed limit it starts bleeping

To add or edit the direction of the speed cam, you just click on the direction button, to edit the speed stored for the camera you click on the red circle, to cancel the speedcam, you click on the map.

is this better ? please let me know what you think as I will be doing the code over the next few days...

Where the camera is displayed below, if a speed is stored, instead of displaying a picture of the camera, it will show the speed.

As long as the picture does not block out the whole map.

maybe you could do one that is portrait like the above, a version that is landscape and the position they appear is user configurable in an ini file.

Yeah also, instead of having the Voice just say "speedcam detected at 40", can we have that AND a speed "sign" in that dialog?

I'd also say change it to landscape and then have something like:

[CAM LOGO] Speed Camera in 423 yards [Direction indicator] (40)<speed

of course this should be like a banner on top of the map IMO, like on the top, like a bar... similar to what MM has.... any possibility that this could be skinned?

oh wait you put speed in there... so yeah, just maybe landscape so it is like a "bar" through the map?

Why not make the menu's, small ones at least into a tall narrow skin and make them appear over the skin display at the side so not covering the map up.

IMHO on a 7" LCD you need the map to be as tall as possible to keep it useable as short wide map views don't give much warning of what you are approaching (motorway junction for example) until you are right on top of them.

    Tuned.
