Girder control for FD?

Is it possible to use Girder to control Freedrive?
I'm using an ATI remote to control RoadRunner and have a couple of spare buttons that I would like to use for controlling FreeDrive, in particular 'Favs', 'Home' and 'Save Pos' features. (I really should get me a touchscreen, but the missus wont go for an embedded into dash touchscreen

)

I've found out from CdR (FreeDrive author) that it should be possible. I haven't had any luck because it's the first time I've had to set Girder.
Anyone care to post an idiots guide? Please.

I'll keep trying in the meantime anyway. The manual isn't that clear to me, but that's probably just me.
