how did plugins end up working out? Are you supporting RR Plugins?

Plugins are supported in FreeICE now. :-) They work similar to RR but not the same... lol
At the moment the plugin sits in the middle of the skin and freeice. Any commands that are sent from the skin run through the plugins first. This way you can either use them as a trigger or even stop them.
So in the plugin you have a sub that you can read skin commands, a sub to send skin commands and also a sub that you can pull variables from FreeICE. ie.. GPSSignal. FreeICE responds to these commands straight away so if you want the GPSSignal every second then you would just set up a timer to ask for it and load it into your own variable.
I'm going to be releasing version 9 tonight (in a few hours) so everyone can have a play. There are two example plugins wrote in vb.net 2010. Ones just a small example but the other is the source for the inet plugin that does the weather / internet connection and distance to home. This has got a running timer in it also.
Any plugin that sits in the plugin directory gets loaded on the startup of freeice. It's early days yet and I need to write a full list of skin commands / variables used so far. That might be a job for tonight :-) but it all seems to be working well over the last few days testing.
thanks
Steve
Can I sugegst that you have the plugins sit in their own folder within the plugins folder, that way they can keep their own files in there and keep the whole thing neater.
The folder name should match the dll name.
ie Plugins\FIFuelPrices\FIFuelPrices.dll
