Frequently Asked Questions.

Q. I don't have an Internet connection in my car, can I still use this.

A. Yes, run this on your home PC (obviously you will need to be running FreeICE on the PC as well), and then copy the stations.country file to your car PC (must be done on same day).

Addendum : The saved files from RideRunner and CentraFuse should also be compatible


Q. I put in a new postcode/zipcode but the stations haven't changed or updated.

A. It is most likely the site does not have any stations near the postcode/zipcode you have entered or you do not have a connection to the internet.


Q. I don't have any Fuel Station brand icons.

A. If one or two are missing it may be new stations I haven't got the graphics for, email me the station name and I will have a look for it. Or you can look for a logo and send me the graphic file.

Addendum, The plugin should check my site for any icons it’s missing, if it doesn’t find one it now automatically emails the names of missing icons to me.


Q. You have done FIFuelPrices for the US,UK,FR,DE,CA,DK,FI,PT,IT,AT,IE any chance of doing it for <Insert Country here>?

A. If you can find a website for your country that show the prices against individual stations, is searchable by postal code or GPS coords and doesn't show the price as a graphic, then post a link and I will have a look.



Q. Would someone care to send me this?

A. They can, but bear in mind you still need to register an account on my forum.


Q. Anyone have a screen built for <Insert skin name here>? it would be greatly appreciated!

A. check the skins thread, contact the skinner or you can try and convert it yourself




Q. I have registered on your site but am still not activated, why?

A. I do not monitor the forum registrations 24/7 so it could take hours or possibly a day or two before I can activate you. If I am going away I will normally put this info into the news section of the forum. If however after a few days of registering you have not been activated then contact me via PM on MP3Car.com.

Using the same username as you do on MP3Car.com or FreeICE.co.uk will ensure you get activated.



Q. I keep getting this error; error x or this function doesn't work?

A. First, make sure you have read this document to see if it is covered in here, then check the whole of the release thread on MP3car.com or FreeICE.co.uk to see if the same questions has been asked before and more importantly answered before.
If the problem still exists go to the settings screen and set Debug to true, do what you do to get the error. Exit FreeICE, navigate to the Plugin data directory, and run 11ADebugCollector.exe. This should create a folder FIFuelPricesDebugs. Zip this folder up and send to debug AT en4cer dot co period uk with an explanation of the error you are receiving.



Q. I'm having problems registering within FI.

A. Login to my forum from Internet Explorer on the PC you are running the plugin.

make sure you check 'Log me on automatically each visit'


Q. This doesn't work for me what shall I do?

A. First read the instruction manual provided. If the answer is not there I assume you have read these FAQ's? If still no answer, ask the question in this thread and/or email me with a debug.log to the email address in the manual.



Known Issues

1. The fuelprices part of the swi are out of line to the left.
2. FI tries to load any DLL in the plugin folder (it should only load one with the same name as the folder.), therefore it pops up an error. Cancel this out and the plugin should work.

Country Specific Information

Special things to note about the different countries.

Non US users. If you are not in the US, do NOT select US. The site has blocked non US IP’s so if you are not in the US it will tie up the Plugin and hence CF for a period of 2 minutes 30 seconds at a time.

Non UK users. Only UK users need to enter a Username and Password.

French users. If you enter an invalid postcode, the plugin will still search for prices, however the distance will calculated from the centre of the Postal District.

UK Users See manual for a specific requirements

Danish, Finnish, Austrian, Italian, Irish and Portuguese users. These work slightly different from the other countries. Here I have compiled a DB of all the stations, these are they sorted by distance and then only those within the range are then checked for Prices. Therefore the higher the range the more stations are checked and the longer it will take.

Irish users. Because you don’t have postcodes this will at present only work by using live GPS cords. I plan on implementing the use of Counties and maybe specific towns in future versions.

Hoping for a release soon.. will this be ready ? I'm hoping so, fed up of filling up and 2 seconds later passing a cheaper station. :-)

the plugin is functional (just don't use it on a PC if VS is installed and you are in the UK*) just needs the it's skin files injected into the main SWF or if you give me an example of how to do it separately.





*website used has an error on it, and although it's blocked for normal PC's for some reason on my laptop with VS installed VS keeps popping and asking do you want to debug the error.

This should work with the new Beta.

You will need to add FIFuelPrices to the plugins.xml in the default skin folder

You will need to be registered on my site to download.

Make sure you check 'log me in automatically' otherwise it won't work.

Make sure FreeICE is run as an admin on Windows 7
