    Thanks, I know how to hide the window... I just kept it up for debugging purposes.

    Ha, then let me give you something that may actually be useful:
    Code:
    Simple benchmarking results:

    Win XP SP2
    Pentium III 648MHz
    64MB RAM

    Baseline:
      CPU=1%
      PF usage=63MB

    Standard Freeway:
      First Screen:
        CPU=50%             (49% Freeway)
        PF usage=90MB     (27MB Freeway)
      Playing Music:
        CPU=50%             (49% Freeway)
        PF usage=102MB   (39MB Freeway)

    NEW Freeway:
      First Screen:
        CPU=3%              (2% Freeway)
        PF usage=94MB    (31MB Freeway)
      Playing Music:
        CPU=3%              (2% Freeway)
        PF usage=103MB   (40MB Freeway)
    -----------------------------------

    RESULTS:
    CPU: 50% reduction!!!!!
    RAM: small increase
    This is just a quick comparison using Task Manager on the slow laptop that is my carPC. With the light specs on my machine, I need the lightest front end possible. If you can maintain those speed improvements to the finished program, it is going to rock!

    hahahahhaahha that sound very familiar.

    oeri, it'a great that you take this project to different language than VB. There are too many VB FE already.

    This is _exactly_ what I was going for in this release. I wasn't too concerned about memory when I was coding because, hey, anything beats ~150 MB usage in Centrafuse. The CPU usage in the earlier version was a little high for my liking, but never at 50% -- must be your CPU.

    Looking for someone with a huge library (> 3000 files or so), MP3'S ONLY, to test my sorting algorithm and library speed in the new version of Freeway. Any takers?

    Hey, I'll do it (13,000 mp3's here). Just let me know how to test and if you want it on the fast (3GHz) or slow (600MHz) machines.

    Thanks for the response of testers. I am looking to test the library, weather, and movies functionality right now. The library should be near completion. Weather needs work on image transparency. Movies is ugly, but should be functional for the most part.

    unlfrank -- please test on both PC's if possible.

    For those interested, please do the following:

    - Erase any old build of Freeway Ultra (the old Visual Basic Freeway can stay, of course)
    - Download the program from http://www2.onu.edu/~m-keryeski/ccfru.zip
    - Extract to its own folder
    - Obtain a copy of mplayer and extract it into the folder so that there is a folder called "mplayer" containing the "mplayer.exe" file, along with the other files. E.g., the folder containing FreewayUltra.exe should also contain the FOLDER called mplayer, which contains mplayer.exe.
    - Do NOT use your old Freeway library. Instead, leave the 0-byte library.ini file.
    - Configure freeway.ini appropriately
    - Run FreewayUltra.exe and click MUSIC on the left hand side.
    - Click the middle icon on the right hand side of the music window (speaker with filmstrip)
    - Choose Refresh Library -- this will recursively scan the specified music folder for MP3 files only
    - Browse through the library, play songs, etc.
    - Test the weather and movie listing functionality

    Looking forward to reports ... thanks again, guys.

    Hi Oeri,
    nice work. I really like that you moved to C#. I know a little C# too, but currently I have a lot of work in school, so no time to play with it.
    I installed the new Freeway. I have just 2000 mp3's in my folder (must import another 2000). I have a folder Music in wich I have for every artist a folder, and than mp3 files.
    When refreshing library I get error that says

    ... The process cannot access the file 'E:\carpc\freeway\Freeway\library.ini' because it is being used by another process.
    Details:
    See the end of this message for details on invoking
    just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
    application or computer (machine.config) must have the
    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
    rather than be handled by this dialog box.

    "System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file 'E:\carpc\freeway\Freeway\library.ini' because it is being used by another process."

    Are you sure you're not using it somwhere else?
