Thanks for everything! comments so far:

    - When browsing all files (i.e. not in library), it shows *.* instead of applying the apprppriate filter/mask for music files as per freeway.ini.
    - By mistake I clicked a non-music file and it didnt play anything, subseqently I was unable to get anything to play... (not even music in the library)
    - When I tried to quit to start again, this is the error that came up:
    Code:
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

    - The suggestion for the thumbnail video in home screen, still applies imho, so does pressing Videos/Music once again to toggle video/vis instead of the eye... seems like you can loose the eye button witouth loosing functionality and without complicating use...

    - I see that videos now shows everything in subdirectories! cool! Are you planning on keeping the directory structure though? So we can go into directories and then choose one video and it will play that one, then the next one in the directory and so forth?

    - My suggestion above for browsing goes also for music (although you've already started on the music ) (EDIT: suggestion for the directory/file listing. Not allow the user to go UP into the root beyond the music folder or video folder you specify in the INI. (i.e. C:\MUSIC wont allow the user to see anything in C:\, only C:\MUSIC\*), and also, I have a hard time finding subdirectories, are they already ordered to be the first thign to show? (first show subdirs, then files). I'm all giddy! this is looking niftyyyy!

    - GPS seems to be working great now, though! Congrats!!!

This is alost useable in the car for me!!!! All that is missing is the filter on the musc folder, and I guess thats it!

Do you mean it shows every single file in that directory? Hm, I will have to look at that.

    - By mistake I clicked a non-music file and it didnt play anything, subseqently I was unable to get anything to play... (not even music in the library)
This is because in the code, the program waits for a response from mplayer that playback is started before it will accept another song to play. Since playback never starts, the program waits indefinitely. I will fix this.

This sounds like a good idea. I am thinking of how I want to implement this. Perhaps an option in the INI file to offer either functionality.

No, the videos will not play in sequential order. Not only would this immensely complicate the code, but I do not see any practicality in it. I will, however, work on implementing the directory structure.

The whole purpose of the file browser for the music was to allow the user to access any file on his hard drive to play. If the file browser was restricted to only the music folder, then it would be more practical just to use the music library in the first place. Subdirectories are always listed first alphabetically in brackets, then the files below the subdirectories alphabetically.

There is an equalizer in mplayer, but it seems as if it can't be controlled from slave mode. I am looking through the mplayer source and may make a few modifications to its code.

Hmm, why is that so? I am using Video music and I would really like that next file starts playing when one ends.

    Hi oeri,

    Thanks for your comments...

In regards to the directory browsing and playing in one, the idea is that it would be similar to NeoCar as the request I had posted in Direcotry browsing and playing in one?

The idea is that I have all my media already sorted into directories, ex:
    c:\media\music
    c:\media\music\artist
    c:\media\music\artist\song 1.mp3
    c:\media\music\artist\song 2.mp3
    c:\media\music\artist\song 3.mp3
    c:\media\music\artist2
    c:\media\music\artist2\song 1.mp3
    c:\media\music\artist2\song 2.mp3
    c:\media\music\artist2\song 3.mp3

and so forth. This makes it easier than having to go into and create a playlist, since I already have the CD/Album in its own directory.

    Occasionally I also have
    c:\media\music\artist\album1\
    c:\media\music\artist\album1\song 1.mp3
    c:\media\music\artist\album1\song 2.mp3
    c:\media\music\artist\album1\song 3.mp3
    c:\media\music\artist\album2\
    c:\media\music\artist\album2\song 1.mp3
    c:\media\music\artist\album2\song 2.mp3
    c:\media\music\artist\album2\song 3.mp3

I can that way go into album1, and start playing. After it plays all album1 songs it would go up one level, then go into the next directory and start playing sequentially.

This is similar in concept to what FP had, and NeoCar had, and is also being done in MMC (although FP has other problems for me, NeoCar stopped being developed and MMC is still very raw)...

The idea of the videos being played in sequence is similar. Man y of us have concerts or other music videos ripped. In many cases, each DVD is in one folder, and each song is one .AVI, that is why it would be interesting at least for me and other users who use this scheme of ripping dvd concerts into individual tracks...

Let me know what you think is doable and what isnt... I will fully understand, even though I think that the additions are surely welcome for many users

I do not plan on using the amazon lookup feature on the road, but I'm guessing you will have the option to disable it in the ini file like in the vb6 version.

Alright, I'll see what I can do. I really wanted to try to keep separate the handling of video/audio within the same playlist, but we'll see how this pans out ...

I can that way go into album1, and start playing. After it plays all album1 songs it would go up one level, then go into the next directory and start playing sequentially.
This is already possible, but some users may want to ascend into directories above their media folder. For this reason, I will leave the option to do so. As of now, the play will stop after it reaches the end of a directory. I will look into adding the ability to transcend into other directories.

This issue was not addressed in the last release. Error handling and the option to disable album art look up will most certainly be included by alpha.

    Cool... Thanks...

Ascending into the previous directory, then going down to the subsequent subdirectory is nice, but I think it is second... I'd vote for having an option to lock the media directory... I dont use library by artist/genre/etc, at least 90% of the time, I dont... I just browse through our currently existing file tree and pick a file to start playing in that directory, I just would love it to continue playing the files in that directory. The idea of not beingable to go itno other directories above the root music, is that it would only allow the user to browse music from within that music module, and only my videos from within the video dir.

The playing/choosing of files should be similar for my use in both audio and video modules. But I also prefer it to be separate (i.e. music module only plays music from c:\media\music\*\*\*.mp3,etc , and video only plays videos from c:\media\video\*\*.avi/mpg etc)

Thanks for your effort in accomodating all these diverse requests!

    Cheers!
