or are you a sirus nut? XM is the way, see the light!

edit: I don't know much about sirus hardware, what's available that is. If there's something that will interface with the computer out there, I'm sure you can find a way to use it.

oh no, don't get the wrong idea...I like XM, I am happy to see support for it in Frodo's application. I am just waiting to give it a try. C'mon monkey man, we want to bask in the glow of our LCD's displaying your finely constructed program!

Not sure about that, with all those configuration screens, my battery will go flat before I get a chance to use it

Frodo just walked me through a sneak peak of a 'pre-alpha'. I've been playing with it for close to two hours, and it's about as far from an alpha as software that hasn't been brutalized by the public gets. This thing is rock solid, and I keep discovering more features. Still, it took all of 3 seconds to load the interface and start playing music after clicking the executable.

As you guys have all seen, the basic front end that you spend most of your time with is very clean and easy to use, but once you get into the configuration screen things get busy. I wouldn't want to spend any time in there while driving, but I can't see the need to for most things. It might, however, be nice if the smart plalyist feature could be gotten to more easily. I foresee myself missing a few green lights at stoplights while generating new playlists with this great tool .

Moving on, the little things are really what make this player in my mind. To list a few: When you shut down the player, it starts again with the same song in the same place (like most HU CD players). You can generate a pseudo playlist on the fly by click(and hold)ing a song for a few seconds, adding it to your 'favorites' list. Run across a botched MP3? You can delete it by click(and hold)ing for 8 seconds. The find feature brings up an onscreen keyboard with the search dialogue. When you open the player/resume a song/ unmute, the volume increases like a crescendo- that is, it slowly increases and won't blow your speakers.

The only thing i had trouble getting used to was the scrolling. When you drag scroll bars on the right downward, the list moves towards the first entry. When you move the bar upwards, the list moves towards the last entry. This is intuitive by virtue of the scroll bar moving with the list, but counter intuitive (for me) because of the scroll bars in internet explorer working the opposite way.

Overall this thing is great and easy to use. Though I had frodo holding my hand, the configuration seems like something anybody can figure out. I think the most important part of the documentation is going to be a list of all of these little hidden features, since it could take somebody months to discover all of them. I can't wait to get frodoplayer in the jeep.
