Thread: 1.0.5 not too long from now

How about a list of all the bugs you are going to fix frodo? That way we wont be reporting twice.. like maybe a bug fix is pushed to 1.06 or something..

I gots here a couple of feedback (feature requests or bugs?)
1/ That shutdown problem. refer - does anyone else have this error?
I think I know what causes it. When you come out of standby, basically a module (or something) was not unloaded and its trying to load it back into memory again, thats what gave it the error. This also happens when you dont shutdown the computer, but simply cut the power. Or if the computer crashes and reboots without shutting down FP. I dont have a shutdown controller so whenever I power down without shutting down FP, the next time I switch on, I will always get that error.

2/ Playlists: Either I suck or there needs to be a guide. I havent used a WMP based system before. I have songs in different genres in different directories.. like D:\Songs\Rock or D:\Songs\Slow
Now, I dont know how to make FP pick a song only from those directory. What I could do was jsut make the target folder d:\songs and select recursive to select all the songs.. but it doesnt play according to the mood. Ive tried creating a playlist from WMP9, and saved it on D:\Songs. But FP doesnt seem to recognize them. I've moved the playlists to C:\Progra~1\Frodoplayer\Playlists to no avail as well.

3/ That search feature. The keyboard thing. That is really-really awesome for searching songs your passenger wants to hear.. BUT.. I find that its all too easy to doubleclick a letter.. lets say I want to type Evanescence while driving, all too often I type Eeevva or something like that. Perhaps a wait for about 0.5 secs could work?

4/ Maybe make it so that the full song title get displayed somewhere? I know you can do the album art or song info thing, but what if you could place it somewhere near the top or something? Or have it as an option

5/ Again about playlist.. Under setup, under database, where you can set your directory for the song list.. when I select a different directory.. it doesnt get loaded to the song list right away. I have to quit FP and open FP again before it appears on the song playlist.

I think I have another one that I thought of while playing with it in the car just now but I cant remember. Hehe.

I havent tried the other features.. like Mary that people keeps talking about.. and the smart playlists.. frankly I dont know how to use them. Maybe I'll try them later.

GREAT software though. This is going to be my main media player for a looooong time. I'm using RedA4's skin. Great combination.

I will have to go back and look, I was so frustrated with some stuff I was just fixing at random, so I lost track

I don't understand, try changing modes back and forth. If you can explain

Mary ? I guess you mean the voice, install SAPI 5 if you need it and turn voices on.

As for smart playists, I'll try to make a guide sometime or maybe someone else
will be happy to explain.

Ok, go to directory mode. You can double click and drill down the directory list as far as you want.
And as for playlists. I support m3u,pls and my own formats fpp & sfpp.
And you do realize there is a playlist builder built into the application right ?

Another question, can the mouse pointer be disabled? (I'm not in front of the PC now but I dont remember seeing it in the settings)

The search features, are they dependent on the ID3 tags? Are ID3 tags different for mp3 files and wma files? (this is kinda off topic - but I've never used WMP as an mp3 palyer before)

What i did to get rid of the pointer is go to mouse in control panel and choose touchscreen *** the option.

frodo: Not sure what your using to write this app in, but you can use the following API call to hide the mouse cursor when your app loads up:

Private Declare Function ShowCursor Lib "user32" (ByVal bShow As Long) As Long

Pass in True to show the cursor, pass in False to hide it. Looks like a real nice app, I may have to try it out if I ever get around to doing a car MP3 system.
