I've just taken a look at FrodoDVD, I like it. However, more screen setting options would be useful. Many of us have 7" widescreen screens set to 800x600 (I still cant get 800x480 properly with powerstrip). Widescreen DVDs look rather compressed vertically. I'd love the option to stretch the image vertically, I'd also like to see an option where the whole screen is used.

Any chance of this? I have WinDVD, but FrodoDVD fits much nicer
    EPoX mATX SocketA w/onboard Geforce4MX / 512MB PC2700 / AthlonXP 1600
    Lilliput / DVDrom / Opus 150W / WD 3.5" 160GB / SB Audigy NX
XP home / Road Runner / iGuidance 4.0

On the first page, listed as "pondering" is "select by album art"...

This is my official request to implement the ability to use frodoplayer like a giant CD changer - I think many people would like to select *albums* to listen to. Personally, my mp3s are all ripped from my personal (legit) CDs and arranged on my HDD as ARTIST->ALBUM. It would be perfect to be able to browse music using large folder icons for "band names". Within the band names folders should be "album names". Then a button to "load album". Again, just like a giant CD changer. This would be very user friendly while driving and only require a few taps on the touchscreen to get where you want to be. I have over 400 albums ripped on my computer and it is currently very cumbersome to browse by album.

I am trying to get this in but I am still wondering how ya'll think it
will be more efficient to browse through 400 albums with 400 pictures
    instead of a list.

I wouldnt worry about album art browsing. It would be so inefficient. The only way it would be efficient was if FP kept track of the most played albums and listed those first.

I still believe the only thing FP needs now is embedded GPS. That, and what i said in post 117:FP Feature Requests

    I second that motion.

CD changer like controls would make me a very happy man. Weather they are implemented through the album art or otherwise. There really isnt a huge difference in browseing 400 pics or 400 albums by list other than by default the pic is going to be bigger and easier to click on, and it looks cooler. also, sometimes its easier to find an album by what it looks like rather than reading a long list, but that argument can be made for both ways, depends on the person.

The big difference is in function, not form. When you click on the album art or list it should start playing that album or add it to the que (depending on preference). There should also be a skip album function that would skip an entire album (instead of each trak in a playlist). The focus is on treating an album like a single unit, the same way a single mp3 file is treated as one unit.
I really dont care for a list of each track thats loaded for a certain album, sure that option is cool and should stay, but there needs to be some focus for the people who dont care about this information. All i care about is what song and album im listening to right now. Maybe the last track and next track, but i reallly dont need to see the whole album listed track for track. At least not on the main screen. If you dont like what you hear, click next. How many people on there home pc that use winamp keep the playlist and ML open the entire time they are running winamp? probably not a lot.

I can go on and on about this topic, also posted here

but what i think i need to do is make a mock up of how i think this should work and then maybe more people will be supporters.

I'm glad to hear that you are trying to add this functionality!

I agree that it is NOT efficient to browse through 400 album art pics instead of a list. It would be MORE efficient though to browse through, say, 100 *artist* directories. Then within each artist directory you can select any of the 2 or 5 or however many albums you have by that artist. Here is what my HDD looks like:

    c:\music\red hot chili peppers\californication
c:\music\red hot chili peppers\one hot minute
c:\music\smashing pumpkins\mellon collie and the infinite sadness
    c:\music\smashing pumpkins\pisces iscariot
    c:\music\smashing pumpkins\siamese dream

    etc etc etc!

Another member made this photoshop of what this could look like (artist folders):

One of the key components here is having large "folders" to select on a touch screen rather than smallish text directories (as is now in frodo 1.08 - no dissing intended, just used as an example). IMHO this is almost essential for quick and easy (and safe) use for a car.

Thanks for the hard work Frodo and being open to suggestions!
