FP Feature Requests

I use windows sync manager to sync my mp3's upon bootup of my car pc over my wifi network. Whenever I add a mp3 this way, FP has to rebuild my database. It would be nice if FP could sync and add necessary changes w/o rebuilding the entire database. Great program though, keep up the good work.

Maybe this was already suggested, or maybe it's already implemented and I'm blind, but...

Because the native wide screen resolution for the Lilliput screen is not properly supported for the EPIA boards, it looks like crap in Windows, but it looks fine when you are watching a DVD. So how about building in a selectable display resolution from the configuration screen of Frodo? In other words, the resolution will change when Frodo is launched, and restore to the original when Frodo is shut down or minimized.

I don't either frodo. I think that he probably has an LCD set at 800x600 and hasn't relized that 800x480 skins work well, maybe?

You will have to excuse me. I am not actively using FrodoPlayer. I am still building the carputer and I have only sampled a few of the players on my home PC. I figured that I would throw in a few suggestions while I'm still building stuff.

I'll try to explain it better:

When you watch a DVD at 800x600 or 1024x768 on a Lilliput screen, the video is stretched wrong. But when you set the screen size to 848x480, 16:9 and 4:3 videos look exactly the way they were meant to. The only problem is 848x480 is a crappy desktop resolution. So you have to go to the Control Pannel and change it to 800x600 so that small text is readable.

What I am suggesting is allow us to choose a prefered FrodoPlayer screen size. For example, when using Frodo the screen size is 848x480. When Frodo is not open, it's back to 800x600 (or 1024x768... whatever).

This isn't anything special. For example, when you load up a video game, it allows you to choose the screen resolution, and it saves it to a config file. When you quit, it restores your original Windows screen size.

Windows expansion capability, making the window bigger and smaller without having this 700x1000 or 800x600 pixels as an issue....what a pain...

Each pixel on LCD is a valuable resource. I think it is very important to get the most possible use of it. In my opinion wasting LCD estate to display huge logos and decorative stuff is not wise. Often it is done to the prejudice of track info, font size or controls size. It would be nice to add the following options that help to utilize LCD better:

1 - Usage of creeping line to display track info
2 - Auto hiding auxiliary controls when they are not needed (for example track info can be shown only for 10 seconds after beginning of each track.
3 - Usage of semi-translucent window to show underling windows and desktop.

For example the player can show all its controls only for few seconds when each track begins and then shrink to few semi-translucent buttons like STOP, NEXT, RESTORE showing underling application like navigation program.

Sorry if I asked for features that already been discussed,

P.S. And as I asked earlier it will be great to add UNICDOE support fo displaying file names and ID3 tags.

Sorry alik, but I'm ahh, gonna have to just ahh, disagree with you on that one :-D

Really though, I think if controls were transparent they would be useless in the daytime since the contrast on the popular (and affordable) LCD's is poor to unreadable in the daylight. At night though it would be cool, but not enough to justify IMHO.
