    Wink My solution...

I installed AC3Filter which allows FrodoPlayer to output 5.1 surround sound.

    AC3Filter

Works as good (as far as I can tell inside a car environment) as doing the digital
decode inside of the audigy 2 nx and uses less cpu.

Audio: Audigy 2 NX; Kicker KX700.5 amp; 20w center amp; Kicker L7 10" Sub
    Display: Lilliput 7" TouchScreen

Almost forgot... another problem it solved was the low volume of DVD's compared
to MP3's.... you can adjust all your gains (master or individual channels) inside of
AC3Filter and equalize your overall volume for the different situations.

Yea it was a real savior for me.... I have a laptop that is just too old to have DVD video
hardware decode.... so the cpu is at like 70% when watching a movie... and the digital
decode that the audigy is doing puts it at around 100% which makes the video start to
drop frames. Plus I have a DVD data stream coming back over USB2.0 into laptop and
then the "spdif" going over the USB2.0 back out of laptop to the audigy 2 nx for decode.
So using AC3Filter keeps some of that internal to laptop and keeps me just
below the 100% mark allowing me great surround sound movies in my SUV!

    and yes...
it's fricken awesome... just showed some out of town friends this weekend.. they were
blown away... u can't beat pure digital sound coming out of the CarPuter for clarity!
(well you could.. but I mean for the amount of $$ put into it )

Yea... I use the AC3 filter too. That is the only way that i can get surround codecs to be recognized by my Panasonic CYAC300-EX. It works with DivX movies that were encoded AC3

    Couple of questions

What version of AC3Filter are you using? I found version 1.01a RC5 after reading the discuissions on the one you had linked. Also the program says the prefered method of reaching the configuration settings is through the players interface. Can this be done through Frodoplayer? Just getting started on building this thing I know I will have a ton of questions..Thanks in advance.

hmm.. I just use the beta version AC3Filter ver 0.70b ...

Wonder if the RC5 has any new functionality... hmm.. research time!

...and I access the options of AC3Filter thru the control panel icon it adds.
