Winamp with gapless plug-in does it.

I once had this idea that somebody should figure out how to do someday.
    Here it is:
1 File for each album with like bookmarks or something that tells the app where the song is in the file. So this way you could skip thru to the song you want, but the app will still keep playing thru the file like it's one big MP3. Something like this I think would be benificial right? **** man, who knows.

mp3 isnt completly gapless its a limitation of the format (i think the latest versions of lame may fix this problem in the same way ogg does, i have not played with this however), a mp3 generally wont fill up the last frame so there will be a tiny bit of silence at the end, the ogg format has information on where the music actually stops embeded in the file, there are players that try to detect this gap at the end of mp3s and remove it but often i find the little gap is still noticible (540wRMS makes it noticible, i cant notice it on crappy computer speakers).

It is also noticible when burning cds, burning mp3s in nero will give you a cd with really short gaps between tracks (i'm not talking about the 2 second gap i mean after setting that to 0), when burning oggs the cd will be seamless. so in conclusion mp3 is NOT gapless

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

err i dunno cue files have pretty much been standard for years, most audio extractors can make them and most cd burning programs can read them
