Almost sounds like an unreasonable search/4th amendment violation.

Yes, it does. Having a dvd in your drive or having "DVD" displayed on the screen doesn't mean you couldn't have been watching it while parked. It woudl never hold up in court...

Heh... I didn't realize police were now required to be IT experts.

I doubt they're qualified to make those judgements:
Police reject candidate for being too intelligent
"The average score nationally for police officers is 21 to 22, the equivalent of an IQ of 104, or just a little above average."

In NY, most of the cops were highschool bullies. They decided to become cops so they could boss the people around At least that's what I heard.

    just a note :

burn DVD's to hard drive. If they are copyrighted, just use " AnyDVD " in background and Nero to burn ( compress ) or just drag files over ( 9gb uncompressed ) .
sorry officer, I don't have a DVD player....

having a button would be nice and there isn't a "DVD" button on the most usable screen on FP, so thats a plus.

Just hook up a relay board with connections to a switch on handbrake, then put a "secret" switch to bypass..

I don't have a DVD drive plugged in all the time. If by some chance I need it I will just pull it out from its hiding spot and plug it in. I just rip my DVDs to Divx format so they are a lot smaller.
