small fp feature request - album art modification

this may very well be a noob dos question, or perhaps a small feature request for the next take on frodoplayer:

i have 600 albums or so each with the cover art named [album].jpg (by [album] i mean the image file is named the same name as the album of the mp3s that are in the same dir)

for various reasons i may get over if no solution is found, i would like to keep those jpegs named as such

my twofold question is this: is it possible for fp to look for the only jpeg in the folder (instead of just album.jpg), and perhaps if there is more than one, it could pick the one named *front*.jpeg or something to that effect? to avoid asking this silly question i did some research and encountered that "for" dos command, but it does not seem to let me copy all the jpegs in each folder to their original folder with a generic name such as folder.jpeg... does anyone know the correct syntax for this 'for' command to do just that?

p.s. (to avoid an extra post on a small matter): i am having trouble finding a clear set of info regarding the destinator 3 action going on, i am trying to figure out what i would need to purchase (guess: that $130 destinator 3 for pda's?) (already have an earthmate, talkin software here), and what i would need to download (guess: the destinator 3 front end made by that ninja dude?) i keep finding posts on the releases and bug reports, but i cannot seem to find the "original" introductory post on this whole matter

I don't really understand the question.
If you're looking for a program to rename a file or something of that sort through DOS. Look into "batch files." If you want to just explain further what you want it to do, I can write it for you.

I think I know what he means- I wanted to preserve old names too, so this is what I did:

1) use winrar- compress your whole mp3 directory, In "basic options" check "no compression", in "files"- put a *.jpg in "add files field" or *.mp3 in "ignore files" field. It will make an archive with directory tree and all jpg's, without mp3 files.
You've got your pictures backed up.
2) uncompress your archive into other directory, make the "for" command in that directory- I used:
for /r %a in (*-*.jpg) do ren "%a" album.jpg
I used (*-*.jpg) because I got artist-album.jpg files that I wanted to use (I got them in Helium2 along with redundant files, f.eg. back.jpg, artist.jpg artistnaked.jpg :-) that I didn't want to loose.
3)use search on that directory, sort by filename and delete everything that's named diffrent than album.jpg
4)copy content of that directory into your mp3 directory.

You're done

in 3)search for jpg or just search for * that will give you all files.

I have renamed those jpg's to album.jpg's.
Still do not understand how to activate BBAA.

Will get the ones named like ernie was talking about.

Code:

for /r %%I in (s*.bmp) do copy "%%I" "%%~dpIalbum.bmp"

will get just the ones that start with "s".
You should be able to extrapolate from here....

Note: This code works with win2k. If it doesn't work on your OS, use single % instead of double %%'s.

My suggestion isn't going to be easy but it will work and at the same time it serves another purpose. The best recomendation would to create a folder.jpg for each album. Since you already have most of the album covers you only need to convert them down to a smaller size (if desired). I normally use 200x200 for folder.jpg. Use the Image Resize PowerToy from Microsoft for quick and easy resizing. Then you would have a common name for all your albums.

At the same time, Windows treats folder.jpg in a pretty cool way. In Explorer viewed in Thumbnail Mode, each album folder would be shown as the cover per folder.jpg.

There is a program out there that will do it all automatically for you. I've posted a message on that forum where I first learned about it but since they have started from scratch the thread is no longer there. When I hear something back, I will post it here.

Does anything have any of the files open? Like a player, etc? Are any of the files read only? Are any of the set to be your desktop wallpaper? What OS are you using? Are you logged on with administrator privileges?

try using the following command while in your music folder:

attrib -s -h -r /s

This sets all the files in the folder tree to not be hidden, not be a system file, and not read-only.
