WIP AeroStyle Frodo Skin

Im working on a skin that is modeled after a Windows XP style im currently using called AeroStyle. It is set at 848x480 untill we find an easier method of getting a 840x480 or whatever it needs to be. getting rid of those extra few pixels in an update should be easy. I may need alittle assistance in putting it all together. but i think i maybe able to handle it. This is my first skin. everything is 100% recreated and made by me. but like i said it is a port of AeroSoft by ChiLam for Windows XP.

this is my frist attempt at a skin i may try somehting more car like after this.. but i was bored =)

its about 45% done

I would still make it at 800 x 480. That way it will look right when stretched.

hmm so frodo stretches it? i was thinkin it would just fit to the screen crap =/

Yeah, Frodo can stretch or lock to a res.
Just depends on what you want.

Since the screens are 800x480, if you chose to stretch, a
800 x 480 skin will scale right on any res.

But I would stay away from circles because they look a little odd when stretched. The oval buttons you have would work though. They would probably appear round on 800 x 600.

iight i made it 800x480
but over all style? what you think? its alot more smooth and simplistic lookign than most here are used to

i come from a windows style that is very smooth and minimalistic

Minimilist is good in a car.

I think it looks good so far. I'm going to start working on a skin with the same idea. simple. Keep up the good work.

also a small tip for the screen res stuff,

i would make the source files much higher than 800x then scale them down for finals
actually i have a little process i allways do if you use photoshop which is a pita but works out.

allways create at the highest res your computer will handle or your comfortable with working with (you never know what you may need those graphics for in the future)
before you save allways flatten all of your layers (undo this in the history window) because if you dont flatten before you save PS will do some weird **** to you image that you may not notice at first but if you compare a pre flatten version to a non pre flattened version you will see the image shift around a bit.
after you flatten, then resize the image, now save it as a .jpg or what ever (but dont save the psd in this stage, undo all that stuff first.

oh ya, im a PS master... but i didnt think about doing it in a higher rez.. crap... oh well.. i dunno if im going to keep going on this skin... people dont seem to thrilled by it.. i may go trend whoreish and make another wood grain or brushed alum or something.. ::sigh:: Oooooo Carbon Fiber? anybody made this before?
